Job Overview:
The Education Officer position is crucial for the implementation of the Education project within the North-East Area Office of NRC. This role involves managing both the hard and soft components of the education program. The hard component includes overseeing the repair of schools and managing the school support cash program, while the soft component focuses on teacher training and youth programs. The Education Officer will be responsible for ensuring that educational initiatives are effectively executed, addressing the needs of the most vulnerable populations, and collaborating with local authorities and stakeholders to promote sustainable education solutions. The planned start date for this position is February 2026, and candidates must have the legal right to work in Ukraine, as NRC is unable to provide work permits or visa sponsorships.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Education Officer will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: adhering to NRC policies and procedures, implementing the education project according to the action plan, targeting beneficiaries in need of protection, collaborating with local authorities and stakeholders, advocating for the rights of internally displaced persons (IDPs) and returnees, contributing to the development and adaptation of education programs, ensuring timely reporting of activities, integrating cross-cutting issues such as gender and protection into program activities, and participating in team meetings and training sessions. Specific responsibilities include developing and implementing work plans, providing guidance for School Improvement Plans, conducting education needs assessments, overseeing school rehabilitation processes, organizing teacher training sessions, facilitating capacity building for local schools, implementing monitoring and evaluation mechanisms, ensuring financial accountability, conducting field visits, and supporting the Education Coordinator in managing educational materials.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in the field of education or social services, including psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support or psychology. They should have technical knowledge related to the responsibilities of the position, experience working in humanitarian or recovery contexts, and the ability to remain calm and professional in complex situations. Documented competencies in training adults and knowledge of psychosocial support in education are also required. Familiarity with the education system in Ukraine and experience working with youth are considered assets.

Educational Background:
A relevant educational background in education, social services, psychology, or a related field is required for this position. Candidates should have a strong understanding of educational methodologies and practices, particularly in the context of humanitarian settings.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in education or related fields. Experience in humanitarian contexts and working with vulnerable populations is highly valued. Candidates should demonstrate their ability to manage educational programs effectively and adapt to changing circumstances in volatile environments.

Languages:
Fluency in Ukrainian is mandatory, and candidates must also have a working knowledge of English, both written and verbal. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset, particularly in the context of working with diverse communities.

This position is full-time and is based in Kharkiv, Ukraine. The NRC is focused on recruiting candidates who have the legal right to work in Ukraine and will not provide visa sponsorships.
