Job Overview:
The Field Coordinator is responsible for the overall management of the field base in Kharkiv, Ukraine, under the direct supervision of the director" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Country Director and in close coordination with the Deputy Country Director for Programs. This role involves overseeing the global strategy for the area of intervention, managing external representation in the oblast and coordination groups, and directly supervising the Logistic and Admin managers, as well as the Field Coordinator assistant (security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Security) and the Deputy Field Coordinator for programs. The position is critical in ensuring that SI's interventions are effective and responsive to the needs of the population, particularly in the context of ongoing conflict and humanitarian challenges. The Field Coordinator will also play a key role in transitioning from emergency response to early recovery interventions, aligning with SI's strategic objectives for 2025 and beyond.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Overall management of the field base, ensuring effective implementation of SI's programs and strategies.
  • Direct supervision of the Logistic and Admin managers, Field Coordinator assistant (Security), and Deputy Field Coordinator for programs.
  • External representation in the oblast and coordination groups, fostering partnerships and collaboration with local stakeholders.
  • Management of security protocols and staff care, ensuring the safety and well-being of all team members.
  • Monitoring and supporting the closure of ongoing projects, particularly the ECHO project, and facilitating the transition to new contracts.
  • Leading winterization preparedness efforts and ensuring timely implementation of winterization assistance.
  • Enhancing internal communication and coordination to maintain healthy relationships with partners and ensure effective program delivery.
  • Addressing challenges related to security volatility and adapting strategies accordingly to ensure the continuity of operations.

Required Qualifications:
  • Proven experience in the humanitarian sector, with a minimum of 3-4 years in relevant roles.
  • Experience in a similar position is preferred, with 0-2 years of direct experience in field coordination.
  • Strong technical skills in HR management, security management, and strategy/partnership management.
  • Excellent facilitation and coordination skills, with the ability to organize effectively and handle pressure.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing circumstances and environments.

Educational Background:
A relevant degree in humanitarian studies, international relations, or a related field is preferred. Additional certifications in project management, security management, or humanitarian response are advantageous.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3-4 years of experience in the humanitarian sector, with at least 0-2 years in a similar field coordination role. Experience in emergency response and recovery programming is highly desirable, particularly in conflict-affected areas.

Languages:
Fluent English is mandatory. Proficiency in Ukrainian and Russian is considered an asset, enhancing communication with local stakeholders and communities.

  • The role is based in Kharkiv, Ukraine, which is currently experiencing a volatile security situation. The compensation package includes a gross monthly salary starting from EUR 3080, a monthly Per Diem of USD 700, and coverage for accommodation and travel expenses. Expatriates will also receive an insurance package covering healthcare expenses and a welfare system including war risks. The position involves a system of alternating work and time off, with breaks every three months and additional rest days per month worked. Living conditions in Kharkiv, despite security concerns, offer a range of activities and amenities for expatriates.
