Job Overview:
The Communication Officer (Marketing) position at UNICEF Mexico involves acting as a liaison between the Communication Team and the Private Fundraising and Partnerships Team. The role focuses on developing and implementing marketing and communication strategies aimed at raising funds and promoting child rights. The incumbent will provide technical advice for marketing communication plans, manage media relations, and ensure the timely production of communication materials that align with UNICEF's global goals. The position requires a proactive approach to monitoring and evaluating communication efforts to maximize impact and improve strategies continuously. The officer will also engage with high-profile figures and maintain relationships with media outlets to enhance UNICEF's visibility and credibility in the private sector.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Communication Officer include:
  • Providing effective technical advice for the development of marketing communication plans aimed at securing donations from individuals and companies.
  • Assisting in media relations by maintaining contact with journalists and media outlets to communicate UNICEF's initiatives.
  • Ensuring timely execution of communication products that support fundraising strategies and resource mobilization efforts.
  • Supervising the production of marketing materials, ensuring quality content and brand alignment.
  • Conducting regular monitoring and evaluation of communication activities to assess impact and improve strategies.
  • Creating and maintaining a list of key contacts in media and relevant organizations to support fundraising efforts.
  • Actively involving key contacts in special events and activities that align with UNICEF's goals.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a university degree (Bachelor’s) in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations, or related fields. Candidates must possess one year of practical professional work experience in marketing communications. Additional desirable qualifications include experience in public relations within the private sector, familiarity with emergencies, and experience in creative writing for advertising or coordinating marketing campaigns with global brands. Experience in producing audiovisual materials and organizing communication events is also beneficial.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a university degree (Bachelor’s) in a relevant field such as Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or Public Relations. This educational background is essential to understand the complexities of marketing and communication strategies necessary for the role.

Experience:
The position requires at least one year of practical professional work experience in marketing communications. Candidates with additional years of experience in marketing or public relations, particularly in the private sector, will be preferred. Experience in developing countries and familiarity with emergency contexts are also advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in both Spanish and English is mandatory for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not required.
