Job Posting Organization: The Climate and Clean Air Coalition (CCAC) is a partnership that includes governments, intergovernmental organizations, private sector representatives, and members of civil society. Established to address integrated climate and clean air solutions, the CCAC focuses on reducing emissions of short-lived climate pollutants (SLCPs) such as methane, black carbon, HFCs, and tropospheric ozone. The CCAC is unique in its approach to tackling climate change and air quality challenges through collaborative efforts and partnerships. Indonesia joined the CCAC in 2025, demonstrating its commitment to combat SLCPs and enhance its climate action initiatives. The CCAC operates globally, engaging with various stakeholders to promote effective strategies for reducing emissions and improving air quality.
Job Overview: The National Consultant will play a crucial role in strengthening the capacity of the Government of Indonesia to coordinate national SLCP planning, policy, and implementation efforts. This position involves leading the coordination and implementation of CCAC projects at the national level, which includes consulting across various ministries and engaging with regional and international stakeholders on SLCP issues. The consultant will be responsible for identifying priorities and needs related to SLCP action and establishing the Super Pollutant Unit under the approved CCAC Super Pollutant Country Action Accelerator. The consultant's work will reinforce Indonesia's commitment to addressing climate and air quality challenges, ensuring sustained engagement in global efforts to mitigate SLCPs and access co-benefits. The consultant will be based at the Ministry of Environment in DKI Jakarta, Indonesia, and will work closely with the CCAC Secretariat team and focal points at the Ministry.
Duties and Responsibilities: The National Consultant will have a range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: leading the coordination of CCAC projects and initiatives at the national level; engaging with various ministries to ensure comprehensive SLCP planning and implementation; consulting with regional and international stakeholders to align Indonesia's SLCP strategies with global efforts; supporting the identification of national priorities and needs for SLCP action; establishing and overseeing the operations of the Super Pollutant Unit; facilitating communication and collaboration among stakeholders involved in SLCP mitigation; providing technical assistance and guidance to government officials and other stakeholders; and monitoring and reporting on the progress of SLCP initiatives and projects.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree or an equivalent qualification in a relevant field such as environmental management, political science, economics, project management, finance, or administration. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in areas related to environmental management, climate change, health, or project management is required. The candidate should demonstrate the ability to provide technical assistance to governments and stakeholders, work effectively with multiple stakeholder groups, and possess knowledge of national policies regarding climate change mitigation and air pollution. A good understanding of short-lived climate pollutants and their impact on climate change and air quality in Indonesia is essential. Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, are required, along with the ability to work with advanced formulas in Excel spreadsheets.
Educational Background: The position requires a Master's degree or an equivalent qualification in a relevant field. This educational background should encompass subjects related to environmental management, political science, economics, project management, finance, or administration, ensuring that the candidate has a solid foundation in the principles and practices relevant to the role.
Experience: The ideal candidate should have at least 5 years of professional experience in fields pertinent to environmental management, climate change, health, or project management. This experience should include working with government entities and other stakeholders, demonstrating the ability to provide technical assistance and effectively engage with various groups involved in climate action and environmental policy.
Languages: Fluency in both English and Indonesian, both written and spoken, is mandatory for this position. This bilingual proficiency is crucial for effective communication with stakeholders, government officials, and international partners involved in SLCP initiatives and projects.
