Job Overview:
The WASH Cluster Coordinator position at UNICEF South Sudan is crucial for ensuring a coherent, strategic, and effective WASH response in the region. The coordinator will lead partnerships and facilitate processes to maximize the reach of WASH services, ensuring that the needs of affected populations are met. This role involves acting as the interface between humanitarian WASH partners and duty bearers, promoting emergency response actions while considering early recovery and risk reduction. The coordinator will also be responsible for leading multiple stakeholders towards a shared goal in a complex humanitarian environment, ensuring that service delivery aligns with the Humanitarian Needs Response Plan (HNRP).

Duties and Responsibilities:
The WASH Cluster Coordinator will be responsible for providing leadership and representation for the WASH Cluster, ensuring timely and effective responses. Key responsibilities include coordinating service delivery based on the HNRP, representing the WASH cluster in various inter-agency groups, promoting the inclusion of key partners, and ensuring effective communication and information management among WASH partners. The coordinator will also lead needs assessments, analysis, and response planning, ensuring that WASH strategies are developed and updated in collaboration with partners. Additionally, the coordinator will oversee monitoring and reporting mechanisms, advocate for resource mobilization, and support training and capacity building for WASH personnel.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an advanced university degree in relevant fields such as WASH, Public Health, Civil Engineering, or Environmental Health. Work experience may substitute for higher degree qualifications. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in WASH emergency coordination, program planning, and management is required, with experience in humanitarian contexts being essential. Relevant experience in a UN agency is considered an asset, and candidates should demonstrate proficiency in computer skills, including Microsoft Office and communication tools.

Educational Background:
An advanced university degree in subjects related to WASH, Public Health Promotion, Civil or Public Health Engineering, or Environmental Health is required. Candidates with relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a higher degree qualification.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in WASH emergency coordination, program planning, and management at the national or international level. Experience in humanitarian coordination systems and contexts is essential, while experience in development contexts is an added advantage.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Arabic or a local language is considered an asset, enhancing communication with local communities and stakeholders.
