Job Overview: The Knowledge Management Officer position at UNICEF's Global Shared Services Centre in Budapest is a critical role aimed at supporting the strategic transformation of the GSSC. The officer will lead initiatives in design thinking, UX writing, and AI integration, while also strengthening internal knowledge systems and networks. This position is designed to enhance service design and user experience across GSSC projects, ensuring that knowledge management practices are effectively integrated. The role is a Temporary Appointment (TA) for a duration of 9 months, and the successful candidate will be expected to contribute significantly to the development and implementation of user-centered design principles and knowledge management strategies.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Knowledge Management Officer will be responsible for several key functions, including:
User-centered design of services and knowledge management resources, ensuring that all outputs are tailored to meet user needs.
Development of UX microcopy and form design to enhance user interaction with knowledge management systems.
Leading AI integration initiatives within the knowledge management framework to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
Providing team leadership and strategic oversight to ensure alignment with GSSC goals and objectives.
Collaborating with various stakeholders to foster a culture of knowledge sharing and continuous improvement.
Conducting training sessions to enhance staff capabilities in knowledge management and design thinking methodologies.
Monitoring and evaluating the impact of knowledge management initiatives and making recommendations for improvements.
Required Qualifications: To qualify for this position, candidates must possess a completed university degree in Information Management, Communication, Knowledge Management, Social Sciences, or a related field. Additionally, candidates should have a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in knowledge management and/or design thinking. Strong skills in developing knowledge management repositories and collaboration are essential, along with proven experience in applying design thinking methodologies. The ability to write clear, structured, and user-centric content is required, and experience in developing and delivering training is highly desirable. Proficiency in Office 365 and SharePoint is mandatory, while knowledge of ServiceNow or similar case management tools is considered an asset. Strong interpersonal and listening skills are necessary, as well as the ability to build and maintain effective working relationships.
Educational Background: Candidates must have a completed university degree in a relevant field such as Information Management, Communication, Knowledge Management, or Social Sciences. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of knowledge management and the application of design thinking principles in a professional setting.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of professional experience in knowledge management and/or design thinking. Candidates should have a demonstrated ability to work with knowledge management repositories and possess strong collaboration skills. Experience in using design thinking methodologies is essential, as is the ability to develop and deliver training programs. Prior experience in the UN or non-profit sectors is desirable, providing candidates with a better understanding of the organizational context in which UNICEF operates.
Languages: Fluency in both spoken and written English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of another official UN language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish, is considered an asset and may enhance a candidate's application.
Additional Notes: This position is a Temporary Appointment (TA) for a duration of 9 months. The role is full-time, and applicants must be nationals of Hungary. UNICEF GSSC does not facilitate MFA accreditation for locally recruited staff. The compensation for this position includes a competitive salary that is exempt from national income taxes in Hungary, starting at a net amount of HUF 1,401,000 per month.
