Job Overview: The Case Manager (Protection) position is crucial for providing specialized case management support to migrants, refugees, and vulnerable populations. Under the direct supervision of the Senior Project Associate (Protection), the incumbent will focus on counter-trafficking efforts, mental health and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support (MHPSS), health assistance, and basic needs/shelter support. The role emphasizes a survivor-centered and rights-based approach, ensuring that the needs of individuals are met through comprehensive case management. The Case Manager will be responsible for assessing risks, developing tailored case plans, and coordinating referrals to appropriate services, thereby facilitating access to essential support systems for those in need. This position requires a proactive approach to engage with various stakeholders, including government agencies and NGOs, to enhance the effectiveness of protection services.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide individual case management for victims of trafficking, individuals with mental health concerns, and those needing shelter and basic needs assistance.
Conduct thorough risk assessments and develop comprehensive case plans tailored to the unique needs of each individual.
Coordinate service referrals to ensure access to specialized support, including healthcare, psychosocial services, and housing assistance.
Facilitate safe return and reintegration processes for trafficking survivors, ensuring their dignity and rights are upheld.
Maintain strong partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, and service providers to enhance collaborative efforts in protection.
Represent IOM in protection coordination meetings and advocacy efforts, contributing to the development of effective protection strategies.
Monitor and report on protection-related trends and gaps, providing insights to inform program development.
Maintain confidential case records and ensure proper documentation of all case management activities.
Assist in preparing project reports and donor updates, ensuring transparency and accountability in reporting.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Law, or a related field, along with two years of relevant experience. Alternatively, candidates with a high school diploma must have four years of experience in a related field. Experience in case management, trafficking victim assistance, or psychosocial support is essential. Knowledge of protection principles and humanitarian assistance is required, along with strong case management and problem-solving skills. Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) is necessary, and candidates should demonstrate the ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Educational Background: The educational requirements for this position include a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Law, or a related field. Candidates with a high school diploma may be considered if they have four years of relevant experience. It is important that the educational qualifications are obtained from accredited universities recognized in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database, ensuring that the educational background aligns with the professional standards expected in this role.
Experience: The position requires candidates to have a minimum of two years of experience in case management, trafficking victim assistance, or psychosocial support. This experience should demonstrate the candidate's ability to effectively manage cases and provide support to vulnerable populations, showcasing their understanding of the complexities involved in protection work and their capacity to engage with various stakeholders in the field.
Languages: Fluency in Hungarian and English (both oral and written) is mandatory for this position. Candidates will be evaluated on their proficiency in these languages during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments. While English is one of IOM's official languages, knowledge of French and Spanish is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate in a multicultural environment.
Additional Notes: This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Hungary will be eligible for consideration. Any offer made to the candidate is contingent upon funding confirmation.
