Job Overview:
The National Project Coordinator (NPC) will play a pivotal role in the execution and coordination of the project titled 'Towards Sustainable Development in the Peruvian Amazon: Prevention of Child and Forced Labor in Ucayali.' This project is part of a broader initiative aimed at promoting decent work and social justice in developing countries, particularly in Latin America and the Caribbean. The NPC will be responsible for ensuring the timely and effective implementation of project activities, which will involve collaboration with various stakeholders, including government entities, social partners, and other ILO projects. The role requires a strong focus on project management, including the preparation of work plans, monitoring progress, and evaluating outcomes. The NPC will also be expected to represent the project in various forums and contribute to the development of policies and programs that address child and forced labor in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The National Project Coordinator will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including but not limited to: preparing terms of reference for project activities, selecting and reviewing products, and evaluating external consultants. The NPC will lead the preparation of the work plan and ensure its implementation, monitoring, and evaluation in accordance with ILO policies and regulations. Establishing performance objectives for the project team, the NPC will evaluate their progress and ensure alignment with project goals. The role involves close collaboration with partners to design and review work plans and budget proposals, as well as monitoring the progress of project activities. The NPC will maintain strong ties with technical specialists and stakeholders, facilitate training programs, and ensure the delivery of quality technical information. Regular reporting on project progress and outcomes will also be a key responsibility, along with representing the project in various forums and meetings.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in law, social sciences, or related fields. An additional degree or postgraduate studies related to labor law will be considered an asset. The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience at the national level in project coordination, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Experience working with government entities responsible for policy development and with development partners is highly desirable. Familiarity with international and national regulations related to forced labor and child labor, as well as experience in formulating national social and labor policies, is essential. Candidates should also have experience in relations with representatives of workers' and employers' organizations and in tripartite institutional spaces.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a university degree in law, social sciences, or a related field. Candidates with additional qualifications, such as a postgraduate degree in labor law or related areas, will have an advantage in the selection process. This educational foundation is crucial for understanding the complexities of labor rights and the legal frameworks that govern them.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have at least two years of relevant professional experience at the national level, specifically in roles related to project coordination, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation. Experience working with government entities and development partners is highly valued, as is familiarity with the workings of international organizations, particularly within the United Nations system. Candidates with a background in addressing issues related to forced labor and child labor will be particularly well-suited for this role.

Languages:
Fluency in Spanish is mandatory for this position, as the primary working language will be Spanish. Additionally, candidates should possess a working knowledge of English, both spoken and written, as the ability to prepare technical reports and participate in meetings in English is required. Proficiency in English will enhance communication with international partners and stakeholders.

This position is a fixed-term contract with a duration of twelve months, subject to budget availability. It is important to note that only local candidates with Peruvian nationality at the time of application will be considered for this role.
