Job Overview:
The Investment Officer position within the Blended Finance – New Business and Portfolio (CBFNP) division is a critical role that focuses on long-cycle blended finance projects primarily within Africa. The successful candidate will work on high-impact projects that require a deep understanding of blended finance mechanisms and the ability to collaborate across different industry groups and regions. This role involves supporting the expansion of the Blended Finance pipeline, contributing to investment structuring, and ensuring that projects meet the needs of contributors while adhering to IFC's governance and principles. The Investment Officer will report to a Blended Finance H-level Technical Lead and will be expected to engage with various stakeholders to optimize co-investment strategies and enhance the impact of blended finance investments.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The responsibilities of the Investment Officer include identifying and assessing potential blended finance projects, monitoring and supporting the expansion of the Blended Finance pipeline, and contributing to investment structuring related to blended finance-funded investments. The officer will work closely with IFC investment teams to prepare documentation for blended finance co-investments and contribute to the IFC investment proposal and Board documentation. Additionally, the officer will analyze client requests, prepare analytical reports, and engage with donors to support fundraising efforts. The role also involves liaising with relevant staff to monitor risks and weaknesses in the portfolio of contributor-funded projects, as well as preparing reports and presentations on portfolio performance for internal and external audiences.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for this position should possess an MBA or a graduate degree with a specialization in finance or investment. A minimum of six years of relevant experience in cross-border emerging market investments is required, with a proven track record in structuring, executing, and managing complex investment transactions. Familiarity with IFC’s investment and portfolio management processes, as well as knowledge of current issues and challenges in blended finance investments, is highly desirable. The candidate should demonstrate strong problem-solving skills, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, and excellent communication skills in English, with proficiency in French or Portuguese considered a plus.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes an MBA or a graduate degree, preferably with a specialization in finance or investment. This educational foundation is essential for understanding the complexities of blended finance and investment structuring in emerging markets.

Experience:
The position requires at least six years of relevant experience in the field of cross-border emerging market investments. Candidates should have a solid track record of structuring and executing complex investment transactions, as well as experience in portfolio management. Familiarity with local currency solutions and capital markets is also beneficial.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position, while knowledge of additional languages such as French or Portuguese is preferred. This multilingual capability will enhance communication with diverse stakeholders and contribute to the effectiveness of blended finance initiatives.
