Job Overview: The Protection Programme Data Management Officer will play a crucial role in monitoring and managing projects related to the Protection Programme. This position involves collaborating closely with the Protection Team Leader and ensuring that databases effectively meet the needs of the Protection team. The officer will be responsible for analyzing information and data for reports, compiling inputs on best practices, and supporting engagement with end users to enhance business processes. The role also includes preparing reports on integrated assessments and violations of humanitarian principles, monitoring and reporting on Protection Programme data, and supporting the design and implementation of various reports. The officer will be expected to work under pressure, demonstrate flexibility in hours, and contribute as part of a team while maintaining high standards of efficiency and integrity.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide detailed monitoring and project management services for Protection Programme projects in collaboration with the Protection Team Leader, ensuring databases meet team needs (25%).
Analyze information and data for reports, compile and collate information for the Strategic Plan, and prepare and review reports related to monthly snapshots and ongoing Emergency Appeal indicators (25%).
Engage with end users to support business process improvements that enhance Agency performance and data transparency for evidence-based decisions (15%).
Prepare reports on integrated assessments and violations of humanitarian principles in UNRWA installations (15%).
Monitor and report on Protection Programme data, including trend analysis and ad-hoc inquiries from stakeholders (10%).
Support the Protection Team in designing, creating, implementing, and maintaining various reports (5%).
Perform other duties as assigned (5%).
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess very good data collection and reporting skills, with the ability to draft and edit a variety of reports and correspondence in both English and Arabic. They should demonstrate strong analytical skills, the ability to learn and research effectively, and apply technical expertise in presenting information clearly. Additionally, candidates should be flexible, able to assess and analyze situations quickly, and work well under pressure as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is essential. Knowledge of Protection Information Management and familiarity with UNRWA's operations are desirable qualifications.
Educational Background: A university degree from a recognized academic institution is required, preferably in social sciences, political affairs, international relations, or data management. This educational background will provide the necessary foundation for understanding the complexities of the Protection Programme and the humanitarian context in which UNRWA operates.
Experience: Candidates should have at least two years of experience in data management within a humanitarian organization, relief operation, or related field. This experience is crucial for effectively managing and analyzing data relevant to the Protection Programme and ensuring that reports and assessments are accurate and timely. Additionally, candidates are required to indicate their current involvement in outside activities, which may include employment, consulting, teaching, or voluntary work, as this information is essential for the application process.
Languages: English is the mandatory working language for this position, with a required proficiency level of UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. While French is also a working language of the United Nations, it is not specified as a requirement for this position. Additional Notes: This position is a Daily Paid Assignment for up to three months, with the possibility of extension based on performance and funding availability. The daily rate for this position is 35.97 USD, and employees are entitled to one day of annual leave and one day of sick leave for each completed month of service.
