Job Overview: The position of Consultant for the Diversity of Cultural Expressions is crucial for the effective implementation and monitoring of the 2005 Convention on the Protection and Promotion of the Diversity of Cultural Expressions. The consultant will work under the overall authority of the director-general" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Assistant Director-General for Culture and will be directly supervised by the Head of the Programme Specialist from the Programme and Capacity Building Unit. The primary functions of this role include finalizing the external evaluation report of the SIDA III project, which focuses on reshaping policies for creativity and artistic freedom, and designing a new cooperation programme with Sweden that emphasizes gender equality in the cultural sector. The consultant will be responsible for drafting comprehensive project documents, including implementation strategies and performance indicators, and will develop a methodological guide for UNESCO field offices. This role requires a strong understanding of cultural policies and the ability to engage with various stakeholders to promote evidence-based approaches to policy design and monitoring.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will have a range of duties and responsibilities, including:
Completing the SIDA III project by finalizing the external evaluation report process, consolidating results, and integrating conclusions and recommendations.
Designing a new cooperation programme with Sweden, focusing on gender equality in the cultural sector. This involves conducting assessments of previous gender projects, drafting a comprehensive project document, and developing implementation strategies.
Submitting deliverables for validation by UNESCO, including final reports and progress reports on the conceptual development of the new cooperation programme.
Engaging with various stakeholders to ensure effective communication and collaboration throughout the project lifecycle.
Utilizing strong analytical skills to synthesize information and formulate research documents that support the objectives of the programme.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (Master’s degree) in disciplines related to culture. Additionally, a minimum of 5 years of professional experience in the field of culture is required, with at least 3 years of experience at the international level. Candidates should demonstrate good knowledge and proven expertise in coordinating multilateral cooperation projects, as well as the ability to collect, synthesize, and analyze information from various sources. Strong IT skills and the ability to work independently in a multicultural environment are also essential.
