Job Description
Job Posting Organization:
The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) is an international organization that seeks to promote the peaceful use of nuclear energy and to inhibit its use for any military purpose, including nuclear weapons. Established in 1957, the IAEA has a mission to accelerate and enlarge the contribution of atomic energy to peace, health, and prosperity throughout the world. The organization operates in over 170 countries and has a workforce of approximately 2,500 employees. The IAEA is headquartered in Vienna, Austria, and collaborates with various member states and international organizations to achieve its goals.

Job Overview:
The internship program at the IAEA is designed to provide students and recent graduates with practical work experience that aligns with their academic studies or interests. Interns will have the opportunity to engage with the work of the IAEA and the broader United Nations system. The primary aim of the internship is to benefit the IAEA's programs by leveraging the skills and knowledge of qualified students who specialize in various professional fields. Internships typically last between three months and one year, allowing interns to immerse themselves in the organization's operations and contribute meaningfully to ongoing projects.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Interns in the Nutritional and Health-related Environmental Studies Section (NAHRES) will be responsible for supporting the maintenance and enhancement of global databases and educational initiatives. Key responsibilities include assisting in data preparation and analysis from IAEA global databases, supporting the organization and reporting of meetings, and contributing to the implementation of coordinated research projects. Interns will also conduct literature searches, prepare outreach materials, and assist in the development of educational resources related to nutrition and nuclear techniques. The role requires collaboration with various stakeholders and active participation in community of practice activities.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in fields such as nutrition, environmental sciences, community engagement, knowledge management, teaching, communications, or related disciplines. Knowledge in nutritional science is essential, as well as experience in data management and analysis. Familiarity with facilitating training or learning communities is advantageous. Educational Background:
Applicants must have completed at least three years of full-time studies at a university or equivalent institution towards the completion of a first degree. Candidates may apply up to one year after completing their bachelor's, master's, or doctorate degree. This educational background ensures that interns have a solid foundation in relevant fields and are equipped to contribute effectively to the IAEA's initiatives.

Experience:
The internship is open to candidates who have relevant academic experience, particularly in nutrition or related fields. While prior work experience is not mandatory, any experience in data management, event planning, or community engagement will be considered an asset. Interns should demonstrate a willingness to learn and adapt to the IAEA's working environment, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams.

Languages:
Good written and spoken English is essential for this position. Fluency in any other IAEA official language, such as Arabic, Chinese, French, Spanish, or Russian, is considered an asset. This multilingual capability is important for effective communication within the international context of the IAEA's work.
