Job Overview:
The Multimedia Division at Human Rights Watch is looking for enthusiastic undergraduate and graduate students who are interested in gaining practical experience in video content creation, social media marketing, and content analysis. The Multimedia Intern will be based in HRW's New York office and is expected to work full-time, approximately 35 hours per week, for a duration of three months starting in mid-to-late January 202
  • The start date is flexible to accommodate the intern's schedule. This internship is designed to provide students with hands-on experience in video production and marketing strategies, allowing them to contribute to the organization's mission while developing their skills in a professional environment. The intern will work closely with the Multimedia team to support various projects and initiatives, including researching video ideas, strategizing content, and monitoring HRW's media presence.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Multimedia Intern will be involved in a variety of tasks that will enhance their understanding of video production and content marketing. Key responsibilities include assisting in all aspects of the video production workflow, participating in team meetings to discuss video production and distribution strategies, and engaging with tracking tools to monitor HRW's media coverage. The intern will also be responsible for organizing and supporting the platforms used to publish content for the Development Department, assisting in the production of both on-location and off-location video shoots, and monitoring HRW's impact to propose and execute impactful story videos. Additionally, the intern will contribute to the video and photo editing process, participate in sourcing third-party footage and music for Development videos, and draft scripts for social media videos. This role provides a comprehensive learning experience in multimedia production and marketing.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program for the duration of the internship. Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for success in this role. A strong interest in video creation and distribution, as well as video data analysis, is highly preferred. Familiarity with video/photo editing tools such as Adobe Premiere is a plus, along with any experience in social media distribution strategies. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a proactive attitude and a willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment.

Educational Background:
The position requires candidates to be currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate program. This educational background is essential to ensure that the intern has the foundational knowledge and skills necessary to contribute effectively to the Multimedia Division's projects and initiatives.

Experience:
While prior experience in video production or content marketing is not mandatory, any relevant experience will be considered a plus. The internship is designed for students who are eager to learn and gain practical experience in the field, making it suitable for those who may not have extensive professional experience but possess a strong interest in multimedia and communications.

Languages:
Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are mandatory for this position. While additional language skills are not explicitly required, proficiency in other languages may be considered an asset, particularly in a diverse and international organization like Human Rights Watch.

Additional Notes:
The internship is a full-time position, requiring approximately 35 hours of work per week for a duration of three months. Interns will be compensated at an hourly wage of USD 17.0
