Job Overview: The Senior Broadcast and Conference Operations Operator (Supervisor) plays a crucial role within the Information and Communications Technology Services Section (ICTSS) of the Division of Publications Conference and Knowledge Management (PCKMD) at ECA. This position involves managing studio production operations, conference operations, and broadcast engineering maintenance. The incumbent will be responsible for designing, installing, and operating various audio-visual systems, including video conferencing and simultaneous interpretation systems. The role requires leadership in integrating virtual platforms into physical AV infrastructure and overseeing livestreaming services. The operator will also participate in developing new computer application systems and maintaining technical documentation, ensuring compliance with UN standards. The position demands collaboration with various departments and coordination of resources for events, making it essential for the incumbent to have strong technical and managerial skills.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Senior Broadcast and Conference Operations Operator (Supervisor) include assisting in managing studio production and conference operations, designing and installing AV systems, leading hybrid conferencing system installations, supervising livestreaming infrastructure, and overseeing digital signage operations. The incumbent will participate in developing and implementing new computer application systems, manage technical documentation, and conduct research on new technologies. Daily coordination with departments such as DPI, DGACM, and BCSS is required, along with planning schedules for resources. The operator will lead projects related to computer application systems, prepare reports, supervise technical staff, and liaise with senior officers and delegations. Additional responsibilities include conducting training for operators, deputizing for the Telecommunications Engineer, and assisting with data analysis and presentation preparation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must demonstrate professional competence and mastery of conference management, broadcast systems, and audio-visual technologies. The ability to supervise operations and maintenance of broadcast equipment is essential, along with skills in collaborating with technology experts and producing technical reports. A commitment to gender equality and the ability to perform data analysis and modeling are also required. The candidate should be motivated by professional concerns and demonstrate persistence in problem-solving, maintaining a calm demeanor in stressful situations.
Educational Background: A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. Additionally, successful completion of programs in data analytics, business analytics, or data science is desirable. Training and/or certification in AV over IP technologies, such as Dante, is also preferred, indicating a strong foundation in relevant technical skills.
Experience: A minimum of ten years of experience in technical conference operations, broadcast operations, or related fields is required. This experience may be reduced to eight years for candidates with a first-level university degree or higher. Hands-on experience with CMSI technologies, video conferencing systems, and various virtual meeting platforms is essential. Familiarity with AV systems over internet protocol and experience in a broadcast LAN environment are desirable. Experience with LED video walls and the application of AI in conferencing technology is also beneficial, along with at least one year of experience in data analytics or a related area.
Languages: English is the required working language for this position, with a minimum proficiency level of UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. French is considered a desirable language, also requiring a minimum proficiency level of UN Level II in all language skills. Proficiency in both languages will enhance communication and collaboration within the UN environment.
