Job Overview:
The Driver position at UNFPA is crucial for providing reliable and safe transportation services to high-ranking officials and visitors. The role requires a strong sense of responsibility, discretion, and integrity, as the Driver will be responsible for ensuring the safety and comfort of UNFPA staff during their travels. Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Driving UNFPA officials and staff to various destinations, ensuring safe and timely transportation.
  • Meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport, assisting with visa and customs formalities as needed.
  • Maintaining accurate vehicle logs and providing input for vehicle maintenance plans and reports to ensure cost-effective use of the assigned vehicle.
  • Performing routine maintenance on the vehicle, including minor repairs, oil changes, and ensuring cleanliness and good running condition.
  • Ensuring all necessary documents and supplies are available in the vehicle, such as insurance, registration, and first aid kits.
  • Following proper procedures in case of accidents and providing timely office assistance, including receiving visitors, answering calls, and managing correspondence.
  • Supporting logistical arrangements for meetings, workshops, and events, and assisting in emergency and humanitarian activities as required.
  • Performing other duties as assigned to support the office's operational needs.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a valid driver's license and a safe driving record. A minimum of two years of work experience as a driver is required, with preference given to those who have experience in international organizations, embassies, or the UN system. Knowledge of local driving rules and regulations, as well as local road conditions, is essential. Basic clerical skills are also required to assist with administrative tasks.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is a completed high school education. This foundational education is essential for understanding the responsibilities associated with the role and for performing administrative duties effectively.

Experience:
Candidates should have at least two years of relevant work experience as a driver. Experience in an international organization, embassy, or within the UN system is considered an advantage, as it demonstrates familiarity with the protocols and expectations of working in a global context. Additionally, experience with minor vehicle repairs is beneficial.

Languages:
A good command of English, the working language of Belize, is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of Spanish is considered an advantage, as it may facilitate communication with a broader range of individuals in the region.
