Job Overview:
The Driver position at UN Women Liberia is crucial for providing reliable and safe driving services to operations and program personnel, consultants, experts, and UN staff on mission. The role requires a high level of discretion, integrity, and responsibility, along with excellent knowledge of protocol and security" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">security issues. The Driver is expected to demonstrate a client-oriented approach, courtesy, confidentiality, and the ability to work with individuals from diverse national and cultural backgrounds. Under the guidance of the Operations Manager and direct supervision of the Administrative Assistant, the Driver will assist in the effective implementation of UN Women Liberia initiatives by ensuring safe transportation and providing administrative support. This position plays a vital role in facilitating the smooth operation of UN Women in Liberia, contributing to the achievement of organizational goals and objectives.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Providing reliable and secure driving services by transporting authorized personnel, delivering and collecting mail and documents, and meeting official personnel and visitors at the airport.
  • Ensuring compliance with safety regulations, including verifying that all passengers wear seatbelts and taking immediate actions in case of accidents.
  • Maintaining proper use of the vehicle, including keeping daily logs of mileage, gas consumption, and servicing, and contributing to environmental sustainability through responsible driving.
  • Performing day-to-day maintenance of the assigned vehicle, ensuring it is clean, in good working condition, and arranging for repairs as needed.
  • Maintaining and ensuring the availability of all required documents and supplies in the vehicle, such as insurance, vehicle logs, and first aid kits.
  • Providing general administrative and logistic support, including assisting with filing, photocopying, and distribution of publications.
  • Performing other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the office and organization.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires the following qualifications:
  • Completion of secondary education is mandatory.
  • A valid driver’s license is required.
  • At least 2 years of experience as a driver in an international organization, embassy, or UN system, with a proven safe driving record.
  • Excellent driving skills and knowledge of driving rules and regulations, local roads, and conditions.
  • Good defensive driving skills and the ability to perform minor vehicle repairs.
  • Strong time management skills and punctuality.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have completed secondary education, which is a prerequisite for this position. Additionally, a valid driver’s license is essential to fulfill the driving responsibilities associated with the role.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should possess a minimum of 2 years of experience as a driver, specifically within an international organization, embassy, or the UN system. This experience should include a demonstrated safe driving record, showcasing the candidate's reliability and adherence to safety protocols.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position, as it is the primary language of communication within the organization. A working knowledge of additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.

This position is classified as full-time and is based in Monrovia, Liberia. The role does not have supervisory or managerial responsibilities.
