Job Overview: The position of Extended-Term Consultant (ETC) within the Corporate Risk Management Department (CRM) of the IFC is crucial for enhancing and maintaining the financial and capital forecasting model. The successful candidate will engage in extensive data analysis of IFC’s investment portfolio, respond to rating agency requests, and handle ad-hoc requests from Senior Management that pertain to IFC’s financial sustainability. The role requires a strong analytical mindset and the ability to work with various integrated risk models, including economic capital, financial forecasting, stress testing, and risk-adjusted performance measurement. The ETC will be expected to contribute to the development and maintenance of risk management policies, ensuring that IFC’s investment portfolio remains financially sustainable. This position is not only about data analysis but also involves collaboration with different departments to gather risk-relevant information, making it a multifaceted role that requires both technical and interpersonal skills.
Duties and Responsibilities: The duties and responsibilities of the Extended-Term Consultant (ETC) include:
Collecting and analyzing risk-relevant portfolio data from IFC’s source systems for various analysis and forecasting purposes.
Preparing and documenting data for rating agency data templates.
Configuring and running the Forecasting Model, reporting and analyzing model outputs under different scenarios and assumptions, and performing change impact analysis across scenarios.
Collecting and analyzing financial data for IFC and other Multilateral Development Banks (MDBs) and Commercial Banks to perform peer comparison and benchmarking analysis.
Interacting with other departments to obtain and analyze risk-relevant and financial information, such as from the Controller’s or IT Departments, in a timely manner.
Supporting the collection and analysis of data and credit risk analytics to aid the GEMs data collection effort. This role demands a proactive approach to data management and a commitment to ensuring the accuracy and relevance of financial information used in decision-making processes.
Required Qualifications: The required qualifications for the Extended-Term Consultant (ETC) position include:
A Master’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Economics, Mathematics, or equivalent quantitative skills.
A minimum of 2 years of work experience in finance or risk management is preferred.
Proven experience in analyzing large data sets and conducting financial statement analysis with critical and independent thinking.
Proficiency in data manipulation and extraction using SQL and Python.
A general knowledge of financial markets and investment products.
Experience in building financial models is considered a strong plus.
Familiarity with IFC’s financial statements and internal financial and risk-relevant data systems (such as ODS, IRP, SAP) is also considered advantageous.
A strong work ethic and the ability to work effectively as part of a team in an international and multicultural environment.

Additional Notes: The Extended-Term Consultant (ETC) position is offered for a term duration of 1 year, with the possibility of renewal at the discretion of the World Bank Group. It is important to note that there is a lifetime maximum ET appointment of three years. If an ET appointment ends before a full year, it is considered as a full year toward the lifetime maximum. Furthermore, former and current ET staff who have completed all or any portion of their third-year ET appointment are not eligible for future ET appointments.
