Job Overview: The Engineering Supervisor position is a critical role within the World Bank's Global Corporate Solutions and Corporate Real Estate division. The incumbent will be responsible for overseeing all plant operations-related functions within the Bank's Headquarters Campus. This includes managing a team of Engineer Mechanics and Operating Engineers, ensuring that all engineering systems operate continuously and efficiently. The role requires the development and implementation of a comprehensive preventive maintenance program for all facilities equipment and systems, as well as providing quality control for construction activities related to HVAC systems. The Engineering Supervisor will also be involved in budget development, monitoring expenditures, and ensuring that service requests are addressed promptly. This position is essential for maintaining the operational integrity of the Bank's facilities and ensuring a conducive working environment for all staff.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Engineering Supervisor will have a wide range of responsibilities, including but not limited to: ensuring the continuous operation of engineering systems, developing and overseeing the preventive maintenance program, reviewing construction plans for quality control, coordinating with project and building managers, assisting in budget development, monitoring engineering systems' conditions, advising on service interruptions, maintaining client relations, and directing the performance of the engineering team. The incumbent will also be responsible for providing performance evaluations, coaching, and career development guidance to team members, ensuring that all operations align with the organization's mission and standards.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, along with a minimum of two years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additionally, at least fifteen years of experience in the operation and maintenance of physical plants for large office buildings or similar facilities is required. A 3rd Class DC Steam Engineer's license or equivalent is mandatory. Candidates should have a deep understanding of mechanical equipment and control systems, as well as proven supervisory skills. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential, along with the ability to work in a diverse, multi-cultural environment.
Educational Background: A Bachelor's degree in engineering, facilities management, or a related field is required for this position.
