Job Overview: The National Junior Consultant – Education will play a crucial role in supporting the UNESCO Dhaka Office in the implementation of key educational initiatives, particularly under the Education Cannot Wait (ECW) Programme and the Global Partnership for Education (GPE) Programme Development Grant (PDG). This position requires a blend of technical expertise and coordination skills to assist in various educational interventions aimed at improving the quality of education for vulnerable populations, including Rohingya communities. The consultant will be involved in the development and execution of training programs, mental health support for educators, and the integration of technology in education. The role demands a proactive approach to research, coordination, and technical support to advance UNESCO's educational agenda in Bangladesh, ensuring that all activities align with the organization's strategic goals and objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will be responsible for supporting the implementation and monitoring of activities under the ECW Programme, which includes four key components: Burmese Language Training and Certification, Teacher Stipend continuation, Teachers’/Facilitators’ Well-being and Self-care, and System Strengthening and Sustainability. This involves coordinating training sessions, workshops, and dissemination events with various stakeholders, including government officials and education sector partners. The consultant will also assist in data collection, verification, and documentation of training outcomes, stipend distribution, and well-being sessions. Additionally, the consultant will prepare progress updates, monitoring reports, policy briefs, and lessons-learned documentation for submission to UNESCO and its partners. Under the GPE PDG, the consultant will support the development of the System Transformation Grant proposal, coordinate consultations with government and development partners, and organize meetings and workshops. The consultant will also assist in activities related to teacher professional development, vocational training, and the integration of ICT and AI in education, ensuring effective communication and coordination with all education stakeholders.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess an advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in Education, Social Sciences, or related disciplines. A minimum of three years of progressively responsible work experience in technical, logistical, administrative, and management support for program implementation is required, preferably with UN agencies, international NGOs, or government agencies. Candidates should have experience in developing communication materials, including social media posts, and demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, particularly in drafting documents in English and Bangla. Proficiency in Bangla typing and familiarity with MS Office tools (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, Canva/Photoshop, Adobe) is essential, while knowledge of statistical software such as SPSS or STATA is an added advantage.
Educational Background: An advanced university degree (master’s or equivalent) in the field of Education, Social Sciences, or other related disciplines is required for this position. This educational background is essential to ensure that the consultant has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively contribute to the educational programs and initiatives outlined in the job description.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of progressively responsible relevant work experience. This experience should encompass technical, logistical, administrative, and management support for program implementation, ideally within the context of UN agencies, international NGOs, or government agencies. Candidates should demonstrate a proven track record of successfully managing educational projects and initiatives, as well as experience in developing communication materials and engaging with diverse stakeholders.
Languages: Proficiency in both written and spoken English and Bangla is essential for this position. Candidates must be able to communicate effectively in both languages to engage with various stakeholders, including government officials, education partners, and community members. Additional language skills may be considered an asset but are not mandatory.
Additional Notes: The contract for this position is classified as a Non Staff Consultant and is expected to last for 100 working days within a 9-month period. The assignment is anticipated to commence on January 1, 2026, and conclude on June 30, 2026, with the possibility of renewal subject to the availability of funds and satisfactory performance.
