Job Overview:
The Programme Analyst will provide essential programme support for the effective management of UN Women programmes in Bangladesh, particularly focusing on the Ending Violence Against Women (EVAW) portfolio. This role involves contributing to the design, formulation, implementation, and evaluation of programmes aimed at preventing and responding to gender-based violence (GBV). The Programme Analyst will analyze results achieved during implementation and ensure the appropriate application of systems and procedures. The position requires close collaboration with various stakeholders, including the programme and operations team, UN Women regional office and HQ staff, government officials, multi and bilateral donors, and civil society to ensure successful implementation of the EVAW programme. The overarching goal is to empower women, girls, and sexual minorities to exercise their rights and live free from discrimination and violence.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Contribute technically to the development of programme strategies in the area of EVAW by providing inputs to the design and formulation of programme/project proposals.
  • Provide technical support to the implementation and management of the EVAW programme, including coordinating and monitoring programme activities, reviewing financial and narrative reports from partners, and training partners on Results Based Management.
  • Offer technical assistance and capacity development support to project/programme partners, overseeing the implementation of programme activities and identifying opportunities for capacity building.
  • Monitor progress on programme activities, results, and indicators, providing inputs to quarterly and donor reports.
  • Manage the financial aspects of the EVAW programme, including budget monitoring and revisions, and overseeing the work of Programme Associates and Assistants.
  • Contribute to building partnerships and resource mobilization strategies, analyzing information and maintaining databases.
  • Provide technical inputs to inter-agency coordination on the EVAW programme to ensure coherence and alignment with other partners in Bangladesh.
  • Support advocacy, knowledge building, and communication efforts related to the EVAW programme, including organizing events and developing knowledge management products.
  • Perform other duties as necessary for the efficient functioning of the Office and the Organisation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a Master’s degree or equivalent in social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, international development, or a related field. A first-level university degree combined with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree. A project/programme management certification such as PMP®, PRINCE2®, or MSP® is considered an added advantage. Candidates should demonstrate strong technical skills in programme formulation, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation, as well as knowledge of Results Based Management and the ability to analyze and interpret data effectively.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position includes a Master’s degree or equivalent in relevant fields such as social sciences, human rights, gender/women’s studies, or international development. Alternatively, a first-level university degree along with two additional years of qualifying experience may suffice. A project/programme management certification is a plus.

Experience:
At least one year of relevant work experience in development programme/project implementation, coordination, monitoring and evaluation, donor reporting, and capacity building is required. Experience in the prevention and response to ending violence against women is desirable, as is experience coordinating with government agencies and/or donors.

Languages:
Fluency in English and Bangla is mandatory. Knowledge of another official UN language (such as French, Arabic, Chinese, Russian, or Spanish) is desirable.
