Job Overview:
The Nutrition Officer position at UNICEF involves providing professional technical, operational, and administrative assistance throughout the programming process for nutrition programs/projects within the Country Programme. This role is crucial as it supports the development, planning, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting of results related to nutrition initiatives. The incumbent will work closely with the Ministry of Health and other stakeholders to address persistent inequities in maternal and child health and nutrition, aiming to reduce preventable deaths and improve access to health services. The position requires a proactive approach to program management and the ability to navigate complex challenges in the health and nutrition sectors in Vietnam.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the development and planning of nutrition programs, ensuring alignment with UNICEF's strategic goals and the needs of the community.
  • Manage and monitor program implementation, ensuring timely delivery of results and adherence to quality standards.
  • Provide technical and operational support to facilitate effective program execution, including capacity building for local partners.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with government agencies, NGOs, and other stakeholders to enhance program reach and impact.
  • Foster innovation and knowledge management within the team, sharing best practices and lessons learned to improve program effectiveness.
  • Conduct regular evaluations and assessments to measure program outcomes and inform future planning.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a university degree in nutrition, public health, nutritional epidemiology, global/international health and nutrition, health/nutrition research, policy and/or management, health sciences, or a related field. Additional relevant post-graduate courses that complement the main degree are considered strong assets. Candidates should demonstrate a solid understanding of nutrition and public health principles, particularly in the context of developing countries.

Educational Background:
A university degree in one of the following fields is required: nutrition, public health, nutritional epidemiology, global/international health and nutrition, health/nutrition research, policy and/or management, health sciences, or another health-related science field. Additional relevant post-graduate courses that complement/supplement the main degree are strong assets.

Experience:
A minimum of two years of professional experience in a developing country in areas such as nutrition, public health, nutrition planning and management, or maternal, infant, and child health/nutrition care is required. Experience in integrated management of acute malnutrition, food fortification, school nutrition, and nutrition in emergency response is considered an asset. Relevant experience in a UN system agency or organization is also advantageous, along with a strong understanding of local government and community contexts in Vietnam.

Languages:
Fluency in English is required for this position. Knowledge of another UN language is considered an asset, enhancing the candidate's ability to communicate effectively in a diverse work environment.
