The intern will report directly to the Regional Coordinator for Chemicals and Pollution Action, providing support in various capacities. The role involves conducting research, analyzing data, and drafting documents that present findings from diverse sources. The intern will also assist in the preparation of briefings, information materials, and presentations, contributing to the organization of project-related events and stakeholder consultations. This position offers a unique opportunity to engage with ongoing national-level environmental activities in West Asia and to produce reports, country data fact sheets, and concept notes that will support UNEP's mission and objectives.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks under the supervision of the Regional Coordinator for Chemicals and Pollution Action. Key responsibilities include: conducting research and analysis to support project implementation; drafting and reviewing reports and documentation; assisting in the organization of project-related events and consultations; formatting project reports from partners; and following up with partners on project activities. The intern will also be expected to draft minutes of meetings and perform other tasks as assigned by the supervisor. This role requires a proactive approach and the ability to work collaboratively within a team environment.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in fields such as environmental sciences, business or public administration, social science, law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">environmental law, or a related field. While professional work experience is not required for the UN Internship Programme, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Applicants must provide proof of their academic status and may need to submit an official certificate later in the application process.
Educational Background: Candidates should be students in the final year of their first university degree (bachelor or equivalent), or enrolled in or have completed a Master’s or Ph.D. Programme.
