Job Overview: This internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is located in Beirut, Lebanon, and is designed to provide support to the Climate Change Regional Coordinator at UNEP. The intern will engage in various tasks that contribute to the implementation of UNEP's West Asia project activities related to climate change. The role involves conducting research, analyzing data, and presenting information gathered from diverse sources. The intern will also assist in capturing, managing, and analyzing data/information relevant to climate change initiatives in the region. Additionally, the intern will be responsible for mapping different political contexts in West Asia, compiling country climate profiles, and drafting press releases and news stories. This position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience in environmental policy and project implementation within a global organization.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will have a range of responsibilities, including:
Supporting research and analysis to gather information from various sources to aid in the implementation of UNEP's climate change activities in West Asia.
Assisting in the management and analysis of data/information related to climate change projects.
Mapping political contexts in the West Asia region and providing insights and regular updates to the Climate Change Regional Coordinator.
Compiling country climate profiles to support UNEP's initiatives.
Drafting and preparing press releases and news stories to communicate UNEP's work and achievements.
Carrying out any additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the direct supervisor, contributing to the overall success of the UNEP projects.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: (a) be enrolled in, or have completed, a graduate school programme (second university degree or equivalent, or higher); (b) be enrolled in, or have completed, the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent) in environmental sciences, business or public administration, social science, law" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">environmental law, or a related field. While professional work experience is not required for this internship, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Applicants must be students in their final year of a bachelor’s, master’s, or Ph.D. programme or have completed such a programme.
Educational Background: Candidates should possess a relevant educational background, which includes being enrolled in or having completed a graduate programme or being in the final year of a bachelor’s degree in fields such as environmental sciences, business administration, public administration, social sciences, environmental law, or related disciplines. Proof of enrollment or completion of the required educational qualifications must be provided during the application process.
Experience: While no professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should have a strong academic background in a field related to the internship. This could include coursework or projects that demonstrate knowledge and skills relevant to climate change, environmental policy, or data analysis.
