Job Overview: The internship position is designed for individuals interested in gaining practical experience in statistical analysis related to poverty reduction and social protection. Interns will work under the supervision of experienced staff members in the Sustainable Socioeconomic Transformation Section. The internship is expected to last between 2 to 6 months, depending on departmental needs, and is a full-time, unpaid position requiring interns to commit to 37.5 hours per week. Interns will engage in various tasks that will enhance their analytical and research skills, particularly in the context of social development issues affecting vulnerable populations. The role emphasizes communication and teamwork, encouraging interns to think critically and creatively about the challenges faced in social development.
Duties and Responsibilities: Interns will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including but not limited to: conducting desk research and data processing, performing statistical analysis using software such as R and Excel, and focusing on topics related to poverty reduction, inequality, and social protection. They will also support the development of reports, summaries, and transcripts, assist in creating content for social media, help organize workshops and conferences, and perform other duties as assigned by their supervisor. The specific tasks may vary based on the intern's background and the office they are assigned to, providing a comprehensive learning experience in the field of social development.
Required Qualifications: Applicants must meet one of the following criteria: be enrolled in or have completed a graduate school program (second university degree or equivalent, or higher), or be enrolled in or have completed the final academic year of a first university degree program (minimum bachelor’s degree or equivalent). While professional work experience is not required, a field of study closely related to the internship is necessary. Additionally, applicants should demonstrate proficiency in standard software applications, particularly MS Word, MS PowerPoint, and MS Teams. The ability to draft news articles and social media posts, as well as design surveys and polls, is also desirable, and candidates should provide examples of how they meet these criteria.
Educational Background: Candidates should possess at least a bachelor's degree or be in the final year of their undergraduate studies. A graduate degree in a relevant field such as social sciences, economics, statistics, or a related discipline is preferred. The educational background should align closely with the responsibilities of the internship, particularly in areas related to statistical analysis and social development.
Experience: While no professional work experience is required for this internship, candidates should have relevant academic experience or coursework that demonstrates their understanding of statistical analysis and social issues.
