Job Overview:
The consultant will play a pivotal role in the socio-economic integration project for migrants and refugees in Brazil, which aims to enhance their social and economic inclusion. This position involves providing technical and strategic support to IOM, focusing on the development and implementation of public policies that facilitate the integration of migrants and refugees into society. The consultant will coordinate efforts among various stakeholders, including public institutions, civil society, and the private sector, to promote inclusive practices that enhance labor market access and integration. The role also includes monitoring and analyzing migration-related challenges and opportunities at local and regional levels, proposing actionable solutions to improve access to essential services, employment, and civic participation for migrants. Additionally, the consultant will contribute to the dissemination of technical knowledge on integration policies and support initiatives that foster institutional learning and capacity building among local governments and other actors involved in migration governance.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The consultant will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Providing technical support to the IOM office in drafting meeting notes, concept notes, and reports.
  • Conducting meetings with relevant stakeholders and attending periodic meetings of the Committees.
  • Coordinating information exchange among stakeholders and the IOM office.
  • Supporting the IOM office in preparing for conferences and events organized by local governments.
  • Assisting with tasks related to the IOM office’s activities to support local plans and policies.
  • Liaising with local governments to develop, maintain, and monitor existing legal agreements.
  • Supporting capacity-building activities with local governments.
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the IOM office.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a BA in Social Sciences, International Relations, Law, Public Policy, or a related field from an accredited academic institution. Additionally, a minimum of two years of professional experience in local government, committees, or councils is required. Experience in migration-related activities, including work with refugees, asylum seekers, or stateless individuals, is considered an advantage. Previous experience with international or national organizations, particularly within the UN system, is also beneficial. Strong communication skills, both written and oral, are essential for this role, along with a working knowledge of English.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position is a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Social Sciences, International Relations, Law, or Public Policy from an accredited institution. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of migration and the socio-economic factors affecting migrants and refugees.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of two years of professional experience, specifically in local government or related committees and councils. Experience in migration, refugee protection, or related programs is advantageous, as is prior work with international or national organizations or the UN system. This level of experience is necessary to effectively navigate the challenges and opportunities within the socio-economic integration landscape.

Languages:
