The role involves engaging in a variety of activities that contribute to the maintenance and operational efficiency of ESA's propulsion test facilities. Interns will be responsible for preparing training dossiers, fostering innovation through idea solicitation and assessment, and animating networks by organizing workshops with test bench operators and launch service providers. This multifaceted internship aims to provide practical experience in the aerospace sector while enhancing the intern's understanding of propulsion test systems and operations.
Duties and Responsibilities: The intern will undertake several key responsibilities, including:
Developing internal training documents focused on Control-Command Systems for real-time propulsion test-bench sequences.
Collaborating with Test Bench operators and Technical Experts to create external training materials related to test bench operations and safety protocols.
Initiating a call for ideas within the Space Community network to explore innovative themes such as environmental sustainability in test benches and advancements in bench technologies.
Evaluating submitted ideas and preparing procurement plans for the implementation of selected innovations.
Organizing workshops that involve multiple test bench operators and potentially Launch Service Providers, which includes logistics planning, participant outreach, and presentation preparation.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must be university students, ideally enrolled at the master's level, and must provide proof of their enrollment for the entire duration of the internship. A solid understanding of propulsion systems, electrical/electronics, and control benches is highly desirable. Additionally, candidates should demonstrate strong organizational skills, creativity in problem-solving, and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should be pursuing a degree in a relevant field such as aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or a related discipline. A focus on propulsion technologies or control systems will be advantageous. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their current enrollment in a university program throughout the internship period.
Experience: While prior professional experience is not mandatory, any relevant internships or academic projects related to propulsion systems, aerospace engineering, or control systems will be considered a plus. The agency values practical experience that showcases the candidate's ability to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world scenarios.
Languages: The working languages of the European Space Agency are English and French. A good command of one of these languages is required for the position. Knowledge of additional languages spoken in ESA member states, such as German, is considered an asset and may enhance the candidate's profile.
