Job Overview: The AI Solutions and Delivery Manager is a pivotal role within the Technology for Development (T4D) team at Mercy Corps, responsible for leading the integration of responsible AI practices across the organization. This position focuses on enhancing AI literacy and capacity, ensuring that AI initiatives align with Mercy Corps' ethical governance principles. The manager will oversee the implementation of grant-funded activities, design and manage AI solutions, and collaborate with various stakeholders to foster a culture of responsible innovation. The role requires a strategic mindset to develop Mercy Corps' AI Strategy, which will guide the agency's vision for AI-enabled programming and operational efficiency. The AI Solutions and Delivery Manager will also play a crucial role in building a learning community around AI and Data Science, aimed at strengthening technical capacity across global teams.
Duties and Responsibilities: The AI Solutions and Delivery Manager will have a comprehensive set of responsibilities, including: leading the planning and execution of AI initiatives that align with Mercy Corps' programmatic priorities; collaborating with country teams to identify opportunities for AI-enabled program design; developing concept notes, proposals, and budgets for AI projects; overseeing the technical design and implementation of AI solutions; providing direct technical support and capacity strengthening to teams; managing monitoring and evaluation processes to assess the impact of AI initiatives; documenting and disseminating best practices and lessons learned; representing Mercy Corps at sector conferences; and managing a team of consultants to deliver AI projects effectively. The role also involves promoting accountability and fostering a respectful work environment.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the AI Solutions and Delivery Manager position should possess a Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field, with a Master's degree preferred. They should have 3-5 years of relevant experience in AI, machine learning, or data science, with a proven track record of managing complex technology projects. Technical proficiency with modern AI/ML tools and platforms is essential, along with experience in designing responsible AI solutions. Strong project management, budgeting, and reporting skills are required, as well as exceptional communication abilities to facilitate learning and represent the organization externally. Experience in humanitarian or development contexts is highly desirable.
