Job Overview: The Programme Specialist in GBV will play a crucial role in implementing and overseeing the GBV program in the Metropolitan Area of Port-au-Prince, ensuring that all activities are conducted in accordance with UNFPA's best practices and policies. This position requires a strong focus on technical leadership, staff supervision, and program development. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining effective communication with various stakeholders, including the Humanitarian Coordinator, and ensuring that the program meets its objectives in a challenging humanitarian context. The role also involves monitoring and reporting on program activities, coordinating with partners, and contributing to the development of strategies and proposals to enhance the GBV response in Haiti.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Programme Specialist in GBV will have a wide range of responsibilities, including providing technical advice and leadership for the GBV program, ensuring ethical data collection and management, supervising and developing staff, overseeing program planning and grant implementation, and supporting monitoring and reporting systems. The incumbent will also participate in GBV Sub-Cluster meetings, lead the development of national GBV program strategies, and contribute to the humanitarian response plan. Additionally, the role involves coordinating with other sectors within UNFPA to ensure comprehensive support for women and girls affected by GBV, and performing any other tasks as assigned by management.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Master's degree in Public Health, Social Sciences, Humanities, or a related field. They should have at least 5 years of experience in GBV programming within humanitarian or development settings, including 2 years of direct service experience supporting GBV survivors. Practical experience in GBV, mental health, and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">psychosocial support programs is essential, along with proven skills in technical training, capacity building, and managing multidisciplinary teams. Experience in grant management, proposal writing, and starting up new programs is preferred. Strong computer skills and effective communication abilities are also required.
Educational Background: A Master's degree in a relevant field such as Public Health, Social Sciences, or Humanities is required for this position. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of GBV programming and the necessary interventions to support survivors effectively.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years dedicated to direct service for GBV survivors. Candidates should have a solid understanding of GBV programming in both humanitarian emergencies and development contexts, as well as experience in managing and supervising teams in multicultural environments. Demonstrated experience in grant management and proposal writing is also essential for this role.
Languages: Fluency in both written and spoken French and English is mandatory for this position. Knowledge of another UN language is advantageous, and proficiency in Haitian Creole is considered an asset, as it will facilitate communication with local communities and stakeholders.
