Job Overview: The Knowledge Management Associate will be a vital member of the Action for Climate and Environment (ACE) Unit at UNDP, which focuses on climate change adaptation and mitigation, natural resource management, biodiversity conservation, ecosystem restoration, disaster management, and access to clean energy. The Associate will manage knowledge management platforms, including the SharePoint repository and the Country Office's digital knowledge repository, ensuring that knowledge is organized, accessible, and user-friendly. This role involves capturing, synthesizing, and sharing knowledge generated from project progress, evaluations, and results reporting. The Associate will also contribute to corporate compliance and support strategic planning and results reporting. The position may require additional management and coordination support as office needs evolve. The Associate will play a key role in transforming knowledge into actionable insights, supporting evidence-based programming, donor reporting, and strategic decision-making.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Knowledge Management Associate will report to the Unit Head of ACE and will not have any direct reportees. Key responsibilities include managing and advancing the unit's knowledge function, maintaining the knowledge management platform, and monitoring project data. The Associate will develop and implement a Knowledge Management Strategy and Action Plan, create knowledge products, and facilitate knowledge exchange with external stakeholders. Specific duties include:
Supporting the development and operationalization of a Knowledge Management Strategy and Action Plan.
Managing the SharePoint-based knowledge management platform and ensuring its accessibility.
Developing processes for the collection and storage of project information.
Generating insights from project data for donor reporting and decision-making.
Documenting lessons learned and best practices from projects.
Coordinating the design and production of knowledge products.
Maintaining high-quality documentation practices to strengthen institutional memory.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess secondary education as a minimum requirement, with a university degree (bachelor's degree) in Social Sciences, Communication, Humanities, or a related field being advantageous. A minimum of 7 years of relevant experience is required for those with secondary education, while candidates with a bachelor's degree need at least 4 years of experience. Required skills include at least 2 years of experience working with government, bi/multilateral agencies, or UN agencies, hands-on experience managing knowledge platforms like SharePoint, and a strong background in content creation and documentation. Desired skills include experience working with multidisciplinary teams, strong writing and reporting abilities, and experience in developing and maintaining databases of communication and knowledge products.
Educational Background: The educational background required for this position includes secondary education as a minimum. A bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Communication, Humanities, or a related field is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates with relevant experience may be considered favorably even without a degree.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 7 years of relevant experience for candidates with secondary education or 4 years for those with a bachelor's degree. This experience should be in knowledge management, monitoring, or communications, with a focus on managing knowledge platforms and working with data systems. Demonstrable experience in working with government or UN agencies is essential, along with a strong background in content creation and documentation.
Languages: Fluency in English and Hindi is required for this position. Proficiency in additional languages may be considered an asset but is not mandatory.
