Job Overview: The Project Associate (ERS) position is designed to support the US State Department funded project aimed at providing comprehensive reintegration services to survivors of trafficking in Ghana and Nigeria. The role involves working under the supervision of the Senior Project Associate and the Senior Programme Officer in IOM Washington, DC. The Project Associate will be responsible for assisting in the day-to-day implementation of the project, particularly in logistical and administrative matters. This includes responding to inquiries, compiling donor reports, and coordinating with case managers in the field. The Project Associate will also be involved in monitoring and evaluation efforts, ensuring that the project meets its objectives of promoting economic self-sufficiency and social stability for trafficking survivors. The position requires a strong understanding of counter-trafficking and case management, as well as the ability to maintain professionalism and confidentiality in all interactions.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide support to the Senior Project Associate in the implementation of the ERS project, including logistical and administrative tasks.
Respond to general program inquiries from IOM Missions and assist in compiling donor reports and data inquiries.
Communicate with ERS case managers in Ghana and Nigeria regarding project activities and assist in organizing meetings and focus groups.
Support caseworkers in developing reintegration plans for beneficiaries.
Liaise with the Emergency Victim Assistance project to coordinate direct assistance to ERS beneficiaries.
Undertake travel to Ghana and Nigeria as needed to support ERS activities.
Maintain confidentiality and integrity of all information in accordance with IOM’s Data Protection Principles.
Alert supervisors to any non-compliance with SOPs or codes of conduct.
Attend relevant meetings, training, and conferences on trafficking and report back to the office. 1
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Required Qualifications:
High school diploma with five years of relevant working experience; or a Bachelor’s degree in Case Management, Social Services, Social Sciences, or a related field from an accredited institution with three years of relevant working experience.
Excellent computer skills, including proficiency in Word, Excel, and Internet applications.
Experience in conducting interviews with vulnerable populations and working as a case worker with migrants for at least two years.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with colleagues from diverse cultures and professional backgrounds.
Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision.
Educational Background: Candidates must possess either a high school diploma with five years of relevant experience or a Bachelor’s degree in a related field with three years of relevant experience. The educational background should ideally include coursework or training in case management, social services, or social sciences, which will provide the necessary knowledge and skills for the role.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of three years of relevant working experience for candidates with a Bachelor’s degree, or five years for those with a high school diploma. Experience should include working with vulnerable populations, conducting interviews, and case management, particularly with migrants. Candidates should also have a demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and work effectively in a team environment.
Languages: Fluency in English is required for this position, both oral and written. Knowledge of additional languages such as French or Spanish is considered an asset, as IOM operates in multiple linguistic contexts and having proficiency in these languages can enhance communication with diverse stakeholders.
Additional Notes: The contract for this position is a Special Short Term Graded contract with an initial duration of 5 months, with the possibility of extension based on funding confirmation and performance.
