Job Overview: The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is located within the Competence Center (KC) for Environment, Water, and Circular Economy. This center addresses current developments and challenges in the environmental sector, providing advice on environmental policy and management, resource efficiency, chemical management, water supply and disposal, and water resource management, as well as Green and Circular Economy initiatives. Interns will work closely with the International Collaborative Center for Sustainable Chemistry (ISC3) and will gain insights into the daily operations of the team while supporting various tasks related to the center's objectives. The role involves assisting project managers with project preparation and management, contributing to the development of environmental management topics, and engaging in knowledge management activities in collaboration with internal and external experts.
Duties and Responsibilities: As an intern, you will have several responsibilities, including supporting project managers in the preparation and management of global projects, assisting in the development of topics related to environmental management, resource efficiency, chemical management, and Green and Circular Economy. You will participate in meetings with internal and external experts, preparing for and following up on these meetings. Additionally, you will conduct research on projects and specific topics, contributing to the documentation of results and experiences for GIZ. You will also support strategic processes within the team and assist in the daily operations of the center, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the organizational and content-related processes involved in a process-oriented operational workflow.
Required Qualifications: Candidates should possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a field related to the environment, such as natural sciences, engineering, or sustainability. Knowledge of the role of the private sector in developing and emerging countries, as well as experience in the private sector (e.g., through internships), is desirable. Strong communication skills and a service-oriented approach are essential, along with the ability to engage effectively with various internal and external stakeholders in project settings. Proficiency in Microsoft Office is also required, and candidates should be able to manage a diverse workload independently and efficiently.
Educational Background: The ideal candidate should have completed a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a relevant field that emphasizes environmental studies, natural sciences, engineering, or sustainability. This educational background is crucial for understanding the complexities of environmental issues and the role of various stakeholders in addressing them.
Experience: While prior experience is not mandatory, any relevant internships or work experience in the private sector or in projects related to environmental management will be considered an asset. The internship is designed for individuals who are currently enrolled in a study program that requires practical experience or who have graduated within the last six months.
Languages: Fluency in both German and English is mandatory, with proficiency at C1 level in both languages required for effective communication in the workplace. Knowledge of additional languages may be considered beneficial but is not a requirement for this position.

The monthly stipend for interns is €2,205.04 (gross). Candidates must be currently enrolled in a study program or have graduated no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.
