Job Overview:
The internship-position" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">internship position is part of the special initiative 'Good Employment for Socially Just Change' under the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). This initiative aims to enhance economic conditions in selected African partner countries, including Egypt, Ethiopia, Côte d'Ivoire, Ghana, Morocco, Rwanda, Senegal, and Tunisia. The goal is to foster sustainable investments from German, European, and African companies and investors, leading to increased and improved local employment opportunities. The internship will involve supporting the implementation of the communication concept for the initiative, creating communication materials, coordinating various tasks with external service providers, and contributing to the conceptual development of communication activities. The intern will also assist in organizing and preparing internal and external events, maintaining a press monitoring filter, and may require travel to the GIZ office in Berlin.

Duties and Responsibilities:
As an intern, you will be responsible for supporting the implementation of the communication strategy for the special initiative. This includes creating communication materials such as flyers and briefs, coordinating tasks with external service providers, and assisting in the editorial process for website contributions and project films. You will also help develop communication activities and create content for the initiative's website and LinkedIn channel. Additionally, you will assist in the preparation, execution, and follow-up of internal and external events related to the initiative. Keeping the press monitoring filter updated and reviewing relevant media coverage will also be part of your responsibilities. The internship may require travel to the GIZ office in Berlin and participation in events, so a willingness to travel is expected.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed a basic degree in communication, economics, political science, or a related field, ideally with a focus on development economics and/or communication. Practical experience in international cooperation and a good understanding of the current discussions at the intersection of international cooperation and business collaboration are essential. Knowledge of communication and public relations, as well as familiarity with new media and social media platforms, particularly LinkedIn, is required. Experience in organizing and executing events is also necessary. Proficiency in German and English is mandatory, with good French language skills being a plus.

Educational Background:
The position requires a completed basic degree in a relevant field such as communication, economics, or political science. Candidates should ideally have a focus on development economics or communication, which aligns with the goals of the internship and the initiatives of GIZ.

Experience:
The ideal candidate should have initial practical experience in international cooperation, particularly in the areas of communication and public relations. Experience in organizing events and executing communication strategies is highly valued. Familiarity with content management systems and graphic editing of film and photo material is also beneficial, as is any prior experience in Sub-Saharan Africa or similar regions.

Languages:
Fluency in German and English is mandatory for this position. Good knowledge of French is considered an advantage, as it may be beneficial for communication within the context of the initiative's operations in French-speaking countries.
