Job Overview:
The position of Praktikant*in im Fach- und Methodenbereich is designed to support the internal service department known as the Fach- und Methodenbereich (FMB) within GIZ. The FMB provides methodological and technical support to all GIZ employees seeking guidance in these areas. It also plays a quality assurance role in the content design of GIZ assignments. The intern will be involved in various tasks that include supporting project management, preparing meetings and events, and assisting in data collection and analysis. The role is integral to ensuring that GIZ's services and products are managed strategically and systematically in alignment with political priorities and global future challenges. The internship is set to take place from December 1, 2025, to May 31, 2026, and can be either full-time or part-time, depending on the intern's availability.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
  • Supporting project management and the Project Management Office with status updates, quality assurance, and preparation of materials for committees and stakeholder engagement.
  • Preparing for and assisting in the execution and follow-up of meetings and events, both virtual and in-person.
  • Assisting in data collection, preparation, and analysis in collaboration with various units within the organization.
  • Supporting the preparation, presentation, and communication of information using MS PowerPoint and MS Word, as well as through intranet and internet platforms.
  • Handling administrative and organizational tasks as required.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a foundational study background in political science, social sciences, economics, communication, international relations, or a related field. They should demonstrate good communication skills and have experience in communication and knowledge management. A high level of linguistic competence is required for preparing information, including the ability to create materials suitable for board-level presentations. Familiarity with digital tools and platforms, as well as social media, is essential, along with excellent proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, MS Teams, etc.). A service-oriented attitude towards both internal and external clients is necessary, along with self-initiative, self-organization, flexibility, and a structured approach to tasks and problem-solving.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes being currently enrolled in a degree program or a continuing education program that necessitates the completion of an internship. Alternatively, candidates may qualify if their degree was completed no more than six months prior to the start of the internship.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have some experience in communication and knowledge management, as well as familiarity with digital tools and platforms. While specific years of experience are not mandated, practical experience in relevant fields will be advantageous.

Languages:
Proficiency in both German and English is mandatory for this position. Candidates should possess very good language skills in both languages to effectively communicate and prepare necessary documentation.
