Job Overview:
The Online Volunteer position at UNFPA Iraq is designed for individuals who are passionate about communications and social media. The volunteer will play a crucial role in supporting the communications team by creating engaging content for various social media platforms. This includes designing posts and writing captions for significant events such as International Nurses Day and International Midwives Day, as well as other initiatives funded by KOICA and UNFPA programs. The volunteer's contributions will help raise awareness about UNFPA's work, honor healthcare professionals, and enhance audience engagement. The role requires creativity, an understanding of social media dynamics, and the ability to convey messages that resonate with diverse audiences. The volunteer will work under the supervision of the communications team, ensuring that all content aligns with UNFPA's brand guidelines and is culturally sensitive.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Design social media posts for key events, including the 16 Days of Activism, ensuring that the content is visually appealing and adheres to UNFPA's brand guidelines.
  • Create one social media post or reel that includes captions in Arabic, English, and Kurdish if possible, covering the relevant themes.
  • Provide editable source files for all designs, such as PSD, AI, or Canva links, to facilitate future use and modifications.
  • Ensure that all materials are adapted for different social media platforms, taking into account the unique requirements and best practices for each platform.
  • Incorporate clear, culturally sensitive messaging that resonates with the target audience and promotes engagement.
  • Collaborate with the communications team to brainstorm ideas and strategies for effective social media campaigns.
  • Stay updated on social media trends and best practices to enhance the effectiveness of the content created.

Required Qualifications:
  • Strong skills in graphic design and social media content creation.
  • Proficiency in design software such as Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, or Canva.
  • Excellent writing skills in Arabic and English; knowledge of Kurdish is a plus.
  • Understanding of social media dynamics and best practices for engagement.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and take feedback constructively.
  • A passion for reproductive health, gender equality, and youth empowerment.

Educational Background:
A background in communications, graphic design, marketing, or a related field is preferred. Candidates should have relevant coursework or experience that demonstrates their ability to create engaging content and understand social media strategies.

Experience:
Previous experience in social media management, graphic design, or communications is highly desirable. Volunteers should have a portfolio of previous work that showcases their skills in creating social media content and engaging visuals.

Languages:
Mandatory: Proficiency in Arabic and English. Good to have: Knowledge of Kurdish to enhance communication with a broader audience.
