Job Overview:
The position involves supporting the preparation and communication activities for the National Roundtable Meeting 2025 in Laos, which is a high-level national development dialogue organized by the Government of Lao PDR and development partners. The meeting aims to review progress on national priorities, strengthen partnerships, and accelerate collective action towards achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Volunteers will contribute to an exhibition at the UN House that showcases collaborative efforts and achievements in advancing the SDGs in Laos. The role requires effective communication of development results and the UN’s collective impact in the country, with tasks divided based on volunteers' skillsets. Volunteers will specify the position they intend to support in their application, which includes roles in communication and content design, exhibition preparation, and post-event support.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Communication and Content Design (2-3 Volunteers): - Draft the event layout, visual content, and communication materials. - Support the design and editing of digital materials such as posters, banners, and short photo stories. - Organize and compile photos and captions that best represent the event’s theme and objectives.
  • Exhibition Preparation (2-3 Volunteers): - Assist in planning and coordination of exhibition materials to ensure consistency and alignment with UN communication standards. - Contribute creative ideas for visual storytelling and presentation design. - Review and edit exhibition content for clarity and accuracy.
  • Post-Event Support (2-3 Volunteers): - Help organize and summarize materials from the exhibition for reporting or communication follow-up. - Draft short event highlights or communication summaries for internal and social media use. Volunteers are encouraged to specify the position they intend to support in their application.

Required Qualifications:
Volunteers should possess relevant skills in communication, design, and content creation. Experience in event planning, coordination, and digital content development is highly desirable. A strong understanding of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the ability to work collaboratively in a team environment are essential. Volunteers should also demonstrate creativity, attention to detail, and the ability to meet deadlines.

Educational Background:
A background in communications, graphic design, event management, or a related field is preferred. Relevant coursework or certifications in these areas will be beneficial for applicants.

Experience:
While specific years of experience are not mandated, prior involvement in volunteer work, event organization, or communication roles will be advantageous. Experience in working with international organizations or knowledge of the UN system is a plus.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as all communication and materials will be in English. Knowledge of Lao or other languages spoken in the region would be considered an asset, enhancing the ability to engage with local communities and stakeholders.
