Job Overview:
The Logistics Coordinator position at CERN involves contributing to the vacuum systems of the High-Luminosity Large Hadron Collider (HL-LHC), a significant upgrade aimed at enhancing the performance of the world's most powerful particle accelerator. The role requires coordination of materials logistics and database support for all vacuum equipment associated with this major project. The successful candidate will work in a dynamic environment that includes workshops, laboratories, and the LHC tunnel area, collaborating with a diverse team of students, trainees, technicians, and engineers. The position emphasizes the importance of effective logistics management, ensuring that materials and supplies are tracked, received, stored, and delivered in a timely manner. The candidate will also be responsible for maintaining accurate records in the materials management system, verifying deliveries, and providing user support to staff requiring materials or equipment. This role is crucial for the smooth operation of the HL-LHC project and offers an opportunity to work in a highly motivating international setting.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Logistics Coordinator will have a range of responsibilities, including:
  • Logistics coordination: Tracking materials and supplies, ensuring timely reception, unpacking, and correct storage or delivery of incoming orders.
  • Database maintenance: Updating and maintaining the materials management system to ensure accurate and up-to-date records of stock levels, orders, and distribution.
  • Order management: Verifying deliveries against purchase orders, reporting discrepancies or delays, and assisting with the preparation of outgoing shipments when required.
  • User support: Acting as the first point of contact for staff requiring materials or equipment, assisting with locating, reserving, and issuing items.
  • Documentation and reporting: Preparing simple reports on stock usage, order status, and delivery follow-ups for supervisors. The role requires strong organizational skills, reliability, and attention to detail, as well as the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must meet the following eligibility criteria:
  • Nationality: Must be a national of a CERN Member or Associate Member State.
  • Professional experience: A maximum of two years of professional experience since graduation in Administrative or Office Management, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
  • Educational qualification: The highest educational qualification must be a general secondary education diploma.
  • Previous contracts: Candidates must not have previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract.
  • Degree restrictions: Applicants with a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree are not eligible for this position.

Educational Background:

Experience:

Additional Notes:
The position is a full-time role with a contract duration of 24 months, which may be extended up to a maximum of 36 months. The working hours are set at 40 hours per week, with a target start date of 01-March-202
  • The role may involve work in radiation areas and interventions in underground installations, requiring a valid driving license. Additionally, the candidate may be required to work during nights, Sundays, and official holidays as needed by the organization. The compensation includes a monthly stipend of 4624 Swiss Francs (net of tax), coverage by CERN's comprehensive health scheme, and various allowances depending on individual circumstances. Employees are entitled to 30 days of paid leave per year and will have access to on-the-job and formal training, as well as in-house language courses.
