Job Overview: The purpose of this assignment is to build capability essential to achieve the Private Sector Engagement Transformation strategic building block. The consultant will design and develop a training program aimed at enhancing the understanding and value of audience insights in private sector engagement among UNICEF staff and the broader private sector ecosystem. This training will support the organization’s ambition to foster an audience-centric culture, where decisions are informed by a deep understanding of supporter and partner motivations, perceptions, and behaviors. The training program will be structured into two levels: Level 101 for all staff to appreciate the value of audience insights and Level 201 for staff with direct audience contact to provide them with the tools and skills necessary to embed audience insights into their strategies and execution processes.
Duties and Responsibilities: The consultant will conduct an audit of existing training on audience insights, engage in internal consultations with leaders to assess current knowledge and integration of audience insights, and create a repository of training materials. They will design a comprehensive training curriculum outline, develop training content for both Level 1 and Level 2 training sessions, and deliver pilot training sessions for feedback and optimization. The consultant will also be responsible for submitting a final report summarizing the training process, outcomes, and recommendations for future training programs.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a first-level university degree in business studies, marketing, communications, consumer research, statistics, or related fields. A minimum of 5 years of professional experience in an insights role is required, along with prior experience in capability building or learning and development. Strong expertise in research methodologies, insight discovery, and application is essential, as well as experience in partnerships, fundraising, and working in an international environment.
Educational Background: A first-level university degree (bachelor’s degree or higher) in relevant fields such as business studies, marketing, communications, consumer research, or statistics is required for this position.
Experience: Candidates should have at least 5 years of professional work experience in an insights role, preferably within a large organization or research agency. Experience in capability building or learning and development is crucial, along with a proven track record in transforming business learning needs into actionable research plans and frameworks.
Languages: Fluency in English is mandatory, while knowledge of another UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) is considered an asset.
Additional Notes: The consultant is expected to provide an all-inclusive fee for the deliverables, including administrative and travel costs if applicable. Payment will be based on the submission of agreed deliverables, and UNICEF reserves the right to withhold payment if the deliverables do not meet the required standards. Selected candidates will not be considered staff members and will not receive benefits such as leave entitlements or medical insurance. They are responsible for their tax liabilities and must ensure valid visa and health insurance for the contract duration.
