Job Overview:
The Civil Engineering engineer" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Technical Engineer position at CERN involves contributing to significant projects such as Site Consolidation and Long Shutdown 3 within the Civil Engineering sector of the Site Asset Management Group. The role requires close collaboration with engineers, technicians, and external contractors to ensure the quality, safety, and timely delivery of various civil engineering works. These works include construction, renovation, and maintenance of CERN's diverse infrastructure. The engineer will be responsible for managing work requests related to various civil works, launching and monitoring construction activities, coordinating multiple trades, and ensuring adherence to safety and quality standards. Regular on-site inspections and quality control checks will be part of the responsibilities, along with managing budgetary aspects and utilizing CERN's computer-based tools for project tracking and documentation.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Civil Engineering Technical Engineer include managing and following up on work requests related to concrete, metal structures, building envelopes, roads/networks, and other civil works for surface buildings, underground structures, and technical galleries. The engineer will launch and monitor construction and renovation activities in collaboration with internal stakeholders, coordinate multiple trades to ensure smooth execution, and perform regular on-site inspections to enforce CERN's safety rules. Additionally, the engineer will conduct quality control checks, supervise contractors' daily activities, verify the proper execution of works, and ensure compliance with specifications and schedules. Budget management will also be a key responsibility, including reviewing quotations, launching orders, and validating contractors' final measurements. The engineer will use CERN's computer-based tools for project tracking, reporting, and documentation.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must be nationals of a CERN Member or Associate Member State and possess a professional background in Civil Engineering or a related field. They should have either a Master's degree with 2 to 6 years of post-graduation professional experience or a PhD with no more than 3 years of post-graduation professional experience. Additionally, candidates must not have previously held a CERN fellow or graduate contract.

Educational Background:
The educational background required for this position includes a Master's degree or PhD in Civil Engineering or a related field. The degree should be complemented by relevant professional experience, with a preference for candidates who have practical experience in structural and building envelope works, as well as maintenance and operation of civil engineering infrastructures.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have a proven track record of experience in coordinating multi-technical trades, with a focus on project management and construction site supervision. Candidates should have experience in budgeting and cost estimation, as well as cost, quality, and schedule control. The ideal candidate will demonstrate adaptability, flexibility, and effective communication skills, along with a strong awareness of health and safety standards.

Languages:
Proficiency in spoken and written English or French is mandatory, with a commitment to learn the other language being highly desirable. This bilingual capability is essential for effective communication within the diverse environment at CERN.
