Job Overview:
The logistics-officer" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Logistics Officer position at WFP involves providing specialized support functions and supervising staff engaged in standard logistics and supply chain processes. The role is crucial for ensuring the effective delivery of goods and services across various delivery modalities. The officer will be responsible for coordinating requisitioning, managing logistics vendors, and ensuring timely delivery of commodities to authorized partners. This position requires a proactive approach to problem-solving and a commitment to excellent client service. The Logistics Officer will also be involved in budget preparation and monitoring, inventory management, and operational planning, ensuring that all logistics operations align with WFP's corporate standards and procedures. This role is vital for maintaining the integrity of logistics operations and supporting WFP's mission to provide humanitarian assistance to those in need.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide specialized support to logistics operations and activities, ensuring effective delivery of food and non-food assistance to beneficiaries.
  • Coordinate requisitioning and ensure timely delivery of commodities and supplies to authorized partners and destinations.
  • Manage logistics vendors’ contracting activities, including performance monitoring and measurement.
  • Support gathering market intelligence and vendor assessments to aid in the vendor selection process.
  • Identify and resolve specialized queries/requests for support, ensuring timely and accurate resolution of inquiries.
  • Prepare, monitor, and revise budgets for all delivery modalities, ensuring compliance with corporate standards.
  • Monitor inventory management processes to track trends and account for inventory status from source to beneficiary.
  • Support oversight for commodity accounting data quality and integrity.
  • Analyze operational pipelines and contribute to assessments and operational planning for all delivery modalities. 1
  • Manage documentation processing for logistics operations, resolving operational issues as necessary. 1
  • Conduct research, collect data, and produce reports to ensure information accuracy in corporate systems. 1
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to support logistics operations management. 1
  • Supervise support staff, providing guidance to ensure objectives are met. 1
  • Support logistics emergency preparedness and response activities, including Logistics Capacity Assessment and Contingency Plan updates.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess at least six years of experience in logistics or supply chain management. They should have experience in maintaining corporate systems, running queries on shipments, and managing contracts with third-party service providers. Additionally, experience in budget monitoring and reporting is essential. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of logistics operations and the ability to analyze and resolve complex issues effectively.

Educational Background:
The minimum educational requirement for this position is the completion of secondary school education. A post-secondary certificate in a related functional area is preferred, which indicates a foundational understanding of logistics and supply chain management principles.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of six years of relevant experience in logistics or supply chain management. Candidates should have a proven track record of managing logistics operations, vendor contracts, and budget monitoring. Experience in emergency logistics and humanitarian assistance is highly desirable, as it aligns with WFP's mission to provide timely and effective support in crisis situations.

Languages:
Fluency in both oral and written communication in French (level C) is mandatory, as it is the primary working language in the region. Additionally, intermediate knowledge of English (level B) is required, which will facilitate communication with international stakeholders and partners.
