Job Overview:
The Partnerships Specialist will play a crucial role in supporting UNICEF Uganda's resource mobilization efforts for its programs aimed at benefiting children. This position involves coordinating grant management related to donor funding, reporting to development partners and private sector actors, and engaging in joint advocacy efforts to leverage resources for children's rights in Uganda. The specialist will work closely with the Partnerships Manager to deepen UNICEF's engagement with the private sector and ensure that the partnerships agenda is effectively administered. This role is vital for advancing UNICEF's mission to promote children's rights and improve their living conditions in Uganda.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Support the mobilization of resources for UNICEF Uganda's programs by engaging with development partners and private sector actors.
  • Coordinate grant management processes related to donor funding, ensuring compliance with reporting requirements.
  • Prepare and deliver reports to development partners and private sector actors regarding the progress and impact of UNICEF-funded programs for children.
  • Collaborate with development partners and private sector actors to conduct joint advocacy efforts aimed at promoting children's rights and securing additional resources.
  • Expand and deepen UNICEF's engagement with the private sector to enhance support for children's rights initiatives.
  • Manage administrative tasks related to the partnerships agenda, ensuring effective communication and collaboration among stakeholders.
  • Stay informed about trends and developments in resource mobilization and partnerships to enhance UNICEF's strategies.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate should possess strong skills in resource mobilization, partnership management, and advocacy. They should demonstrate a commitment to children's rights and have the ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential, along with a proactive approach to problem-solving and decision-making. The candidate should also exhibit integrity, professionalism, and adaptability in a dynamic work environment.

Educational Background:
A bachelor's degree in social sciences, international relations, development studies, or a related field is required. A master's degree in a relevant discipline is preferred and may enhance the candidate's qualifications for the role.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in resource mobilization, partnership management, or advocacy, preferably within the context of international development or humanitarian work. Experience working with children and understanding their rights is highly desirable. Familiarity with the UN system and knowledge of UNICEF's mission and programs will be advantageous.

Languages:
Fluency in English is mandatory, as it is the working language of UNICEF. Knowledge of local languages spoken in Uganda would be considered an asset, as it may facilitate better communication with local partners and communities.

Additional Notes:
This position is a United Nations Volunteers (UNV) assignment based in Kampala, Uganda, which is recognized as a family duty station with relatively good living conditions. The role may involve full-time commitment and requires the candidate to be adaptable and resilient in a potentially high-pressure environment. The position may also entail international collaboration and engagement with various stakeholders, including government entities, civil society organizations, and private sector actors.
