Job Overview:
The Case Management Specialist plays a crucial role in providing trauma-informed services to refugees and qualified immigrants, ensuring a positive resettlement experience and promoting client self-sufficiency within the Office of Refugee Resettlement’s Program for Initial Resettlement (PIR). This position requires close collaboration with clients, colleagues, and external partners to create tailored service and self-sufficiency plans that address individual client needs and preferences. The specialist will utilize a wide array of resources, including financial, medical, social, and vocational services, to support clients in achieving their goals. The role demands a proactive approach to client engagement, ensuring that each client receives meaningful interactions and support throughout their resettlement journey.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Case Management Specialist's responsibilities encompass a variety of tasks aimed at facilitating the resettlement process for clients. Key duties include coordinating timely pre- and post-arrival services to ensure clients have access to essential resources such as airport pickup, housing, food, medical care, and transportation. The specialist will assist clients in finding and applying for permanent housing and support them during the move-in process. Conducting intake services to assess client needs is essential, as is the development of individualized self-sufficiency plans and SMART goals in collaboration with clients. The specialist will provide relevant services, including direct financial assistance, public benefits applications, and referrals to medical and mental health services. Regular assessment and monitoring of client progress are critical to address challenges and ensure resource utilization. Detailed documentation of client interactions is required, along with inputting information into the IRC’s case documentation database, ETO. The specialist will also collaborate with coworkers and partner organizations, building relationships with local service providers to enhance client support. Additionally, the role may involve training and leading volunteers and interns, along with other assigned duties.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates for the Case Management Specialist position should possess a Bachelor’s degree in social work or a related field, with a strong preference for those with experience working with refugee and immigrant populations. Essential skills include strong relationship-building, diplomacy, and networking abilities, as well as the capacity to effectively foster internal and external relationships. A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in an administrative role is required. The ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, cross-cultural environment is crucial. Candidates should be self-starters with excellent problem-solving skills, capable of multitasking, prioritizing duties, and managing time effectively. Attention to detail and accuracy in work products are essential.

Additional Notes:
This position is a limited-term role ending on September 30, 2026, with the possibility of extension. The working environment is hybrid, involving standard office work, remote tasks, and fieldwork. Occasional weekend and evening work may be required to attend outreach events. The compensation for this role ranges from $27.00 to $29.00 per hour, with pay ranges applicable to U.S.-based candidates.
