Job Overview:
The Asylum Services Intake Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing the provision of integrated resource navigation for recently arrived asylum seekers and other eligible migrants in Washington State. This position requires a deep understanding of the experiences faced by asylum seekers, including their migratory journeys and the barriers they encounter in accessing protection and services. The supervisor will manage the Washington Migrant & Asylum Seeker Support Project (WA MASS Project) front line staff, including Asylum Services Intake Coordinators and Navigators. Responsibilities include implementing tailored intake processes, conducting assessments, emergency triage, and providing limited direct services. The supervisor will also be responsible for case consultation for escalated cases, developing tracking systems for program tasks, and ensuring the team is trained and guided effectively. Working closely with the Senior Asylum Services Manager, the supervisor will contribute to the development of a data-driven, protection-centered humanitarian reception system for asylum seekers in Washington State, ensuring that the services provided are responsive to client needs and interests.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Asylum Services Intake Supervisor will oversee the daily operations of the WA MASS Project Newcomer Reception and Navigation Hub’s Intake team. Key responsibilities include onboarding, training, and supervising Asylum Services Intake Coordinators to ensure a client-centered approach and adherence to IRC policies. The supervisor will provide consultation and triage for complex cases, support the Intake Team in utilizing appropriate resources, and ensure compliance with standard operating procedures. Additionally, the supervisor will maintain an up-to-date understanding of referral processes, improve tracking systems, and ensure timely responses to communications from external partners. Regular reporting to the Senior Manager regarding the Intake Team's progress, needs, and spending is also required. The supervisor will share best practices in humanitarian reception and support donor reporting, including the curation of client testimonials and contributions to quarterly narrative reports.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess an undergraduate degree, with a graduate degree preferred in fields such as social work, migration studies, or related disciplines. A minimum of five years of relevant professional experience is required, ideally within a non-profit or social service organization. At least three years of supervisory experience in case management or social service teams is essential, along with a minimum of two years of experience working directly with asylum seekers. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of the U.S. immigration system, particularly the asylum process, and have experience in program management, including staff management, program development, and monitoring and evaluation. Excellent verbal and written communication skills are necessary, along with the ability to engage effectively with limited-English speakers in a multicultural environment.

Educational Background:
The position requires an undergraduate degree, with a preference for candidates holding a graduate degree in social work, migration studies, or a related field. This educational background is essential to ensure that the supervisor has the necessary theoretical knowledge and practical skills to effectively support asylum seekers and manage the Intake team.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of five years of professional experience in relevant fields, with a strong preference for experience in non-profit or social service organizations. Supervisory experience is crucial, with at least three years managing case management or social service teams. Additionally, candidates should have at least two years of direct experience working with asylum seekers, which will provide valuable insights into the challenges faced by this population.

Languages:
Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory for this position. Bilingual abilities in Spanish, French, or Portuguese are preferred, as they will enhance communication with a diverse client base. Strong cross-cultural understanding and excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are essential for effectively engaging with asylum seekers and other stakeholders.

Additional Notes:
The position is based in Washington State, and candidates must be available for work-related travel. The work environment includes a standard professional office setting, with a combination of office and fieldwork, and some remote work may be possible based on project capacity. The role may require occasional weekend and/or evening work. Compensation for this position ranges from $77,968.80 to $78,866, with pay determined by various factors including labor market conditions, job type, internal equity, and budget considerations.
