Job Overview:
The Project Coordinator position is crucial for the implementation of the SIDPIN project, which aims to provide support to internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Nigeria's northeastern states. The incumbent will work under the direct supervision of the Head of Office and will closely coordinate with other Transition and Recovery staff. The role involves planning, coordinating, and monitoring project activities, ensuring that the project meets its objectives effectively. The Project Coordinator will compile and analyze data related to the project, monitor budget implementation, and act as a focal point for administrative coordination. This position requires strong organizational skills and the ability to liaise with various stakeholders, including government entities, UN agencies, NGOs, and community organizations. The Project Coordinator will also be responsible for drafting reports, organizing training sessions, and providing guidance to other staff members involved in the project.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Project Coordinator include:
  • Supporting the planning, coordination, implementation, and monitoring of project activities.
  • Compiling, summarizing, analyzing, and presenting information/data on specific project topics.
  • Monitoring budget implementation and proposing necessary adjustments.
  • Acting as the focal point for administrative coordination of project implementation.
  • Drafting status reports and identifying shortfalls in delivery, suggesting corrective measures.
  • Preparing and updating reports, briefing notes, graphics, and statistical tables.
  • Organizing meetings, workshops, and training sessions, and preparing training materials.
  • Responding to complex information requests and inquiries.
  • Maintaining effective liaison and coordination with local authorities, partners, and stakeholders. 1
  • Monitoring the work of implementing partners and reporting any non-compliance. 1
  • Providing inputs for the development of Standard Operations Procedures (SOP) and concept papers. 1
  • Guiding and training other staff in the unit and supervising them as assigned. 1
  • Performing other related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:
The position requires a university degree in Development, Social or Political Sciences, Management, or a related field from an accredited academic institution with at least 4 years of relevant experience. Alternatively, a High School Diploma in the above fields with 6 years of relevant working experience is acceptable. Candidates must demonstrate experience in development-oriented programs, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting, particularly in relation to internal displacement and durable solutions. Familiarity with area-based approaches and multi-sectoral interventions is also essential, along with experience in liaising with government counterparts and NGOs.

Educational Background:
Candidates must possess a university degree in Development, Social or Political Sciences, Management, or a related field from an accredited institution. Accredited universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database. A High School Diploma in the relevant fields is acceptable if accompanied by significant relevant experience.

Experience:
Candidates should have a minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in development-oriented programs, particularly in monitoring, evaluation, and reporting. Experience in project development and implementation, especially in complex crisis or post-conflict environments, is highly desirable. Familiarity with EU-funded project implementation and reporting is also an advantage, as is field experience in Nigeria, particularly in Benue or the North-Central region.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory, as it is one of IOM's official languages. Knowledge of French and Spanish is considered an asset. Language proficiency will be evaluated during the selection process, which may include written and/or oral assessments.

Additional Notes:
This position is subject to local recruitment, and only candidates holding a valid residence and work permit for Nigeria will be considered. The appointment is contingent upon funding confirmation and medical fitness certification. The selection process may be used to fill similar positions in various duty stations, and recommended candidates will remain eligible for appointment in a similar position for 24 months.
