Job Overview: The Senior Information Technology Assistant position is situated within the Information and Communications Technology Services Section (ICTSS) of the Division of Publications Conference and Knowledge Management (PCKMD) at ECA. The role is pivotal in bridging the gap between ICT services and business units, ensuring that user needs are effectively captured and translated into actionable ICT solutions. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining strong client relationships, tracking requests, and ensuring timely resolutions. Additionally, the role involves contributing to the development of the ICTSS cost recovery framework, supporting project management initiatives, and enhancing data and knowledge management practices. The position requires a proactive approach to client engagement and a commitment to continuous improvement in ICT service delivery.
Duties and Responsibilities: The Senior Information Technology Assistant will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including: serving as the primary contact for business units to capture and translate user requirements into ICT solutions; supporting the design and delivery of ICT services aligned with organizational strategies; maintaining strong client relationships through regular communication and feedback; tracking client requests and ensuring timely resolution; preparing briefing notes and status reports for management; contributing to the development and implementation of the ICTSS cost recovery framework; collecting and analyzing data related to ICT services; assisting in project documentation and change management activities; preparing user guides and communication materials; collecting and analyzing data for performance measurement; and providing guidance and training to junior staff or interns as required.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent. Knowledge of information technology and applications, particularly in computer system networks, is desirable. Technical skills in network maintenance, server services, and user support are also preferred. The role requires a strong commitment to gender equality and the ability to perform data analysis and modeling to support decision-making processes.
Educational Background: A high school diploma or equivalent is required for this position. While specific educational qualifications beyond this are not mandated, knowledge of information technology and applications is highly desirable. Candidates with a first-level university degree or higher may have their minimum experience requirements reduced, indicating a preference for candidates with advanced educational backgrounds in relevant fields.
Experience: A minimum of ten years of progressively responsible experience in ICT service support, client engagement, or business analysis is required. Candidates with a first-level university degree or higher may qualify with eight years of relevant experience. Experience in financial management or cost recovery models is desirable, as is experience in data analytics or related areas, which is also considered beneficial for this role.
Languages: English is the mandatory working language for this position, with a required proficiency level of UN Level II in reading, writing, listening, and speaking. French is considered a desirable language, also requiring a proficiency level of UN Level II. This bilingual requirement reflects the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat and emphasizes the importance of effective communication in both languages within the organizational context.
