Job Overview:
The Driver position at FAO in Sierra Leone is crucial for ensuring the safe and efficient transportation of FAO staff and authorized personnel to various operational areas, including meetings, field operations, and airport transfers. The role requires a responsible individual who can maintain the assigned vehicle in excellent condition, ensuring it is clean, well-serviced, and equipped for safe use. The Driver will be expected to adhere to all organizational and local regulations, particularly in the event of an accident, and to keep accurate records of vehicle usage and fuel consumption. This position is integral to the smooth operation of FAO's programs in Sierra Leone, supporting the organization's mission to enhance food security and nutrition in the region.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Driver will be responsible for a variety of tasks, including transporting FAO staff and authorized personnel to operational areas, delivering and collecting official documents and items, and maintaining the assigned vehicle. Specific duties include ensuring the vehicle is clean and well-maintained, keeping accurate records of vehicle movements and fuel consumption, performing minor repairs, and reporting any issues to the FAO Representative. The Driver will also be required to serve on a rotation basis and ensure that the vehicle is used judiciously for official purposes only. Additionally, the Driver must handle local and organizational formalities in case of accidents and ensure compliance with traffic regulations.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must have completed Senior Secondary Education and possess a valid motor vehicle driving license. A minimum of 5 years of relevant driving experience is required, along with a working knowledge of English and good communication and writing skills. Candidates must be nationals of Sierra Leone. FAO core competencies such as results focus, teamwork, communication, building effective relationships, and knowledge sharing are essential for this role. Technical skills in vehicle maintenance and experience with UN or international organizations are highly valued, and a certificate in motor vehicle technician training is an added advantage.

Educational Background:
The educational requirement for this position includes the completion of Senior Secondary Education. Candidates must have obtained their qualifications from institutions accredited or recognized in the World Higher Education Database (WHED), ensuring that their educational background meets international standards.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in driving, with a proven track record of safe and responsible vehicle operation. Experience working with UN or international organizations is preferred, as it demonstrates familiarity with the operational standards and expectations of such entities. Candidates should also have undergone professional driving lessons and been tested to ensure their driving skills meet the necessary standards.

Languages:
