Job Overview: The Web Editing & UX/UI Volunteers will be integral to the Tech Volunteers for Resilience (Tech4R) programme, which aims to mobilize skilled digital volunteers to develop open-source digital tools that enhance resilience and inclusive development. This specific role involves working on the Multilingual Website Synchronization for the GEF Small Grants Programme (SGP) in Uzbekistan. The volunteers will be responsible for improving the layout, structure, and navigation of the GEF SGP website, ensuring that the content is accurately synchronized across its Uzbek, Russian, and English versions. This initiative is crucial for enhancing the website's usability and accessibility for diverse linguistic audiences, thereby supporting community-based organizations and local partners in their efforts towards environmental protection and climate adaptation. The role requires collaboration with translators and content reviewers to maintain consistency in style and presentation, as well as conducting quality assurance checks to ensure compliance with UNDP branding guidelines.
Duties and Responsibilities: The primary duties and responsibilities of the Web Editing & UX/UI Volunteers include:
Editing and aligning web pages across the Uzbek, Russian, and English versions of the GEF SGP Uzbekistan website to ensure consistency.
Adjusting the layout, menus, and content blocks to facilitate seamless navigation between different language versions.
Uploading and organizing multimedia materials such as images, case studies, and project results to enrich the website's content.
Implementing formatting adjustments to enhance accessibility and readability for all users.
Collaborating with translators and content reviewers to ensure uniformity in style and presentation across all language versions.
Conducting visual quality assurance checks prior to publication to ensure that all content aligns with UNDP and GEF branding guidelines.
Actively participating in team discussions and contributing ideas for improving the overall user experience of the website.
Required Qualifications: Candidates for the Web Editing & UX/UI Volunteers position should possess the following qualifications:
Strong understanding of web editing and user experience design principles.
Proficiency in using web content management systems (CMS) and basic HTML/CSS knowledge is preferred.
Familiarity with accessibility standards and best practices for web design.
Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain consistency across multiple language versions.
Strong communication skills, particularly in collaborating with team members and stakeholders.
A proactive attitude towards problem-solving and a willingness to learn and adapt in a dynamic environment.
Educational Background: A background in web design, digital media, communications, or a related field is preferred for this volunteer position. Experience: While prior experience in web editing or UX/UI design is advantageous, it is not strictly required.
