Job Overview:
The Intern in the Green Financial Systems (GFS) team of the Climate Strategy and Delivery (CSD) Business Group plays a crucial role in integrating the EBRD’s Paris alignment and Green Economy Transition (GET) approaches into banking operations. This position focuses on climate transition planning for financial institutions, providing technical assistance, capacity building, and supporting monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) activities. The intern will report to a GFS Principal/Associate Director and will be involved in various aspects of the EBRD project life cycle, including project origination, structuring, execution, monitoring, and technical cooperation. The role also includes supporting special projects aimed at greening the financial system, making it essential for the intern to engage in diverse tasks that contribute to the EBRD's climate goals.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The intern will support the implementation of the EBRD’s Climate Transition Programmes, which includes monitoring milestones, compiling updates, and preparing materials for capacity building and alumni engagement. They will assist in data management and research by collecting and organizing data related to client transition planning and disclosures. The intern will structure and manage assignments for technical and policy services to clients, providing policy and capacity building advice. They will collaborate with various units within the Bank to support selected policy dialogue projects and contribute to policy dialogue activities with local authorities and industry associations. Additionally, the intern will coordinate internal capacity building related to climate transition, organize training sessions, and maintain resources for team development. They will also provide necessary support for meetings, grant procurement efforts, and policy dialogue initiatives.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates should possess a degree, preferably in a technical discipline such as engineering, economics, or environmental science, or a combination of commercial and technical skills. Knowledge and/or experience with climate or green finance initiatives and the financial sector is essential. A sound understanding of business and finance principles is required, along with knowledge of emerging markets, particularly in EBRD regions. Experience in engineering, consultancy, banking, equity funds, advisory services, or corporate finance is advantageous. Candidates should demonstrate analytical and research skills, strong problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to synthesize complex information into actionable insights. Familiarity with systems thinking and change management is beneficial, as is an understanding of policy analysis and formulation in climate change, resource efficiency, and energy efficiency.

Educational Background:
A degree in a relevant field such as engineering, economics, environmental science, or a related discipline is required. The ideal candidate should have a strong academic background that supports their understanding of climate finance and the financial sector.

Experience:
The position requires candidates to have some level of experience, preferably related to climate finance initiatives or in roles that involve project design, development, or management. While specific years of experience are not mandated, a track record of relevant internships or work experience in related fields will be beneficial.

Languages:
Fluency in English is essential, with excellent written and oral communication skills. Knowledge of additional languages from the EBRD region is considered advantageous, as it may enhance the intern's ability to engage with diverse stakeholders.
