Job Overview:
The position of Development Worker is part of the GIZ project titled 'Strengthening Socioeconomic Participation of Refugees and Host Communities in Northwestern Uganda (ParWest)', which is commissioned by the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). This project aims to enhance the socioeconomic participation of vulnerable refugees and host populations in districts affected by climate change, specifically in Adjumani and Obongi. The role involves working closely with local communities and stakeholders to implement activities that align with Uganda's progressive refugee policies and contribute to broader development goals, including the BMZ Feminist Development Policy and the Global Compact on Refugees. The Development Worker will be responsible for ensuring effective project management, engaging with various sectors, and providing technical guidance to partners, thereby playing a crucial role in improving the lives of those affected by displacement and climate change.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The Development Worker will undertake a variety of tasks, including supporting access to Mental Health and psychosocial-support" style="border-bottom: 1px dotted #007bff !important;">Psychosocial Support (MHPSS), anti-Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV), and gender inclusivity activities within the program. Responsibilities include overseeing project interventions in collaboration with the Programme Component Manager and implementing partners, identifying needs for project planning and conceptualization, managing contracts, and overseeing monitoring and evaluation processes. The role also involves financial management of activities and projects, developing and designing new interventions, and steering interventions alongside team members under the supervision of the Programme Manager. Additionally, the Development Worker will support program engagement with public and private sectors, civil society organizations (CSOs), and provide technical advice and capacity building to project partners on relevant topics.

Required Qualifications:
Candidates must possess a completed university degree in social sciences, political science, anthropology, psychology, or a related field, along with demonstrable professional experience. Knowledge and experience in refugee and forced displacement contexts are essential, particularly in areas such as Mental Health and Psychosocial Services, prevention of Sexual and Gender-Based Violence, and gender inclusivity. Applicants should have proven experience in project management and promoting the social and economic integration of refugees, ideally in collaboration with local communities. Strong collaboration skills with various stakeholders, excellent moderation, presentation, and communication skills are also required. Fluency in English is mandatory, while experience with EU-funded projects and working in intercultural settings is desirable. Proficiency in German is a plus but not mandatory.
