Job Overview:
The Grants and Co-financing Management Specialist will play a crucial role in the IDB Group's efforts to manage grant and externally financed projects. This position is integral to the Global Partnerships Office (GPS), specifically within the Grants and Co-financing Management Unit (GCM). The selected candidate will be responsible for overseeing the administration of donor trust funds and bank-owned resources, ensuring compliance with donor agreements and IDB policies. The role requires a strong focus on implementing the IDB's new Impact+ strategy, which aims to enhance the effectiveness of projects in Latin America and the Caribbean. The specialist will collaborate closely with operational teams, partners, and clients to ensure that resources are utilized effectively and that projects align with both donor requirements and the IDB's strategic priorities. This position demands a proactive approach to monitoring project execution, analyzing portfolio performance, and engaging with various stakeholders to drive successful outcomes.

Duties and Responsibilities:
The duties and responsibilities of the Grants and Co-financing Management Specialist include:
  • Management of Donor Trust Funds: Oversee the day-to-day administration of trust funds, ensuring compliance with donor requirements and IDB policies.
  • Financial Management: Assess the financial soundness of trust funds, monitor cash flows, and identify potential risks.
  • Reporting: Prepare reports and briefings for internal and external stakeholders, ensuring data accuracy and consistency.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with operational teams and partners to support project execution and resource allocation.
  • Risk Management: Identify, analyze, and mitigate risks affecting the fiduciary integrity of trust fund resources.
  • Continuous Improvement: Propose and implement measures to enhance transparency, efficiency, and accuracy in financial management processes.
  • Data Management: Engage with the Data Management team to ensure accurate reporting and monitoring of results and performance indicators.

Required Qualifications:
The ideal candidate for this position should possess the following qualifications:
  • A Master's degree (or equivalent) in Business Administration, Finance, International Development, Economics, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in resource management, preferably in an international development context.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage complex financial data.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in project management and financial reporting.

Educational Background:
Candidates must have a Master's degree or equivalent in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Finance, International Development, or Economics. This educational background is essential for understanding the complexities of resource management and the financial aspects of grant administration.

Experience:
The position requires a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in resource management, particularly in the context of international development or financial management. Candidates should demonstrate a strong understanding of donor relations, compliance, and project execution.

Languages:
Proficiency in English is mandatory for this position. Additionally, knowledge of Spanish and Portuguese is considered a valuable asset, as it enhances communication with partners and stakeholders in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Additional Notes:
This position is classified as an international staff contract with an initial duration of 36 months, subject to renewal upon mutual agreement. The work location is at the IDB Group's headquarters in Washington, D.C., United States.
