Job Overview: The PM4R Consultant position is designed for a proactive and dynamic individual who is client-focused and eager to learn about project management. The consultant will join the Project Management for Results Program (PM4R) within the IDB Academy, which aims to strengthen project management capabilities across the region. The consultant will be responsible for identifying and executing PM4R workshops, updating content, and suggesting new formats to enhance project performance. This role involves close collaboration with country offices and sector teams to integrate best practices in project management, thereby promoting operational effectiveness and better performance in project execution.
Duties and Responsibilities: As a PM4R Consultant, the individual will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including:
Analyzing the IDB portfolio to identify projects that may benefit from PM4R planning workshops.
Promoting and sustaining partnerships with sectors and country offices to ensure effective workshop delivery aligned with the IDB Impact+ strategy.
Overseeing the delivery of PM4R workshops by identifying needs, aligning expectations, developing agendas, selecting facilitators, and managing logistics.
Exploring innovative solutions to project execution challenges through capacity-building initiatives.
Designing and implementing customized learning materials based on PM4R methodologies to meet operational needs.
Keeping PM4R methodologies updated with the latest international best practices.
Coordinating regional PM4R events and proposing content improvements to enhance learning experiences.
Updating the PM4R product pipeline and managing performance indicators to improve product quality.
Required Qualifications: Candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree in fields such as engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration, Economics, or related areas. Additionally, candidates should have at least 2 years of experience managing development projects within a multilateral institution, non-profit, or government agency. A certification from the PM4R program (PM4R Professional, PM4R Agile, PM4R Leadership, or PM4R Expert) or another internationally recognized project management certification (such as PMP or PRINCE2) is also required.
Educational Background: The educational requirement for this position includes a Bachelor’s degree in relevant fields such as engineering, Business Administration, Public Administration, or Economics. This educational background is essential to ensure that the candidate has the necessary theoretical knowledge and skills to effectively manage and contribute to project management initiatives.
Experience: The position requires a minimum of 2 years of experience in managing development projects, specifically within a multilateral institution, non-profit, or government agency. This experience is crucial for understanding the complexities of project management in diverse environments and for effectively implementing PM4R methodologies.
Languages: Proficiency in both Spanish and English, both spoken and written, is mandatory for this role. Additionally, knowledge of French and Portuguese is considered a plus, as it may enhance communication and collaboration with a broader range of stakeholders in the region.
Additional Notes: The position offers a full-time contract, with options for National Consultant (remote) or International Consultant (on-site in Washington D.C.). The length of the contract is 12 months.
